Motor neuron diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and progressive bulbar palsy, involve loss of muscle control resulting from death of motor neurons. Although the exact pathogenesis of these syndromes remains elusive, many are caused by genetically inherited mutations. Thus, it is valuable to identify additional genes that can impact motor neuron survival and function.

Invasive plants often create highly competitive environments so controlling them is necessary for effective establishment of native species. In the sagebrush steppe of the United States, invasive annual grasses are commonly controlled with herbicide treatments.

In this study, novel all-cellulose laminates are developed using an environmentally friendly approach, where freshly regenerated cellulose II films are stacked without the need for solvents (for impregnation and/or partial dissolution), chemical modifications, or resins. The structural and mechanical properties of these all-cellulose laminates were thoroughly investigated.

Studies show ethnic differences in skeletal muscle fiber type (lower type I fibers in AA), muscle fat oxidation capacity (lower in AA), whilst no differences in total skeletal muscle lipids. However, skeletal muscle lipid subtypes have not been examined in this context.

Mis-metabolism with aggregation of amyloid-β peptides (Aβ) play a key role in AD pathophysiology. Therefore, human studies on Aβ metabolism and T2D are warranted.
