Background: High response rates are needed in population-based studies, as nonresponse reduces effective sample size and bias affects accuracy and decreases the generalizability of the study findings.

Objective: We tested different strategies to improve response rate and reduce nonresponse bias in a national population-based COVID-19 surveillance program in England, United Kingdom.

Methods: Over 19 rounds, a random sample of individuals aged 5 years and older from the general population in England were invited by mail to complete a web-based questionnaire and return a swab for SARS-CoV-2 testing.

Background: Negative symptom severity predicts functional outcome and quality life in people with psychosis. However, negative symptoms are poorly responsive to antipsychotic medication and existing literature has not converged on their neurobiological basis. Previous work in small schizophrenia samples has observed that lower cerebellar-prefrontal connectivity is associated with higher negative symptom severity and demonstrated in a separate neuromodulation experiment that increasing cerebellar-prefrontal connectivity reduced negative symptom severity.

Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a critical condition resulting from impaired oxygen and blood flow to the brain during birth, leading to neuroinflammation, neuronal apoptosis, and long-term neurological deficits. Despite the use of therapeutic hypothermia, current treatments remain inadequate in fully preventing brain damage. Recent advances in mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs) offer a novel, cell-free therapeutic approach, as these EVs can cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and deliver functional microRNAs (miRNAs) to modulate key pathways involved in inflammation and neuroprotection.

Background: The Network for Pancreatic Organ donors with Diabetes-Kidney (nPOD-K) project was initiated to assess the feasibility of using kidneys from organ donors to enhance understanding of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) progression.

Methods: Traditional and digital pathology approaches were employed to characterize the nPOD-K cohort. Periodic acid-Schiff- and Hematoxylin and Eosin-stained sections were used to manually examine and score each nPOD-K case.
