Objective: Recent studies have shown that inclusion of eggs in young children's diet can help meet nutritional requirements associated with cognitive development. This study aims to investigate the effect of egg consumption on Early Childhood Development (ECD) using Ages and Stages Questionnaire-3(ASQ-3) in Burkina Faso.

Design: The study presented here uses data collected during a follow-up of the -a 3 arm clustered randomized controlled trial (RCT), conducted roughly four months after the end of the RCT.

Article Synopsis
  • Research on dendritic cell (DC) activation has mostly relied on animal models, highlighting the need for human-based in vitro models due to differences in DC types across species.
  • Scientists have created a full-thickness human skin tissue model with Langerhans cell (LC) and dermal dendritic cell (DDC) surrogates from human leukemia cell lines to study their activation.
  • When exposed to nickel sulfate or DNCB, the model showed significant increases in CD1a positive cells, indicating that these treatments trigger a response leading to DC migration and activation within a short time frame.

Autism spectrum disorder is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder. The available medical treatment options for autism spectrum disorder are very limited. While the etiology and pathophysiology of autism spectrum disorder are still not fully understood, recent studies have suggested that wide alterations in the GABAergic, glutamatergic, cholinergic, and serotonergic systems play a key role in its development and progression.

Article Synopsis
  • - Neurodegenerative diseases are increasingly prevalent, prompting research for new treatments; a series of six novel compounds were synthesized to target mitochondrial oxidative stress and show potential as therapeutic agents.
  • - These compounds displayed varying affinities for their target, with one compound achieving notable affinity comparable to an existing drug, and demonstrated antioxidant properties, although their effectiveness was only low to moderate.
  • - The research included evaluation of these compounds' effects on neuroblastoma cells, revealing a clear link between chemical structure and toxicity, alongside computational studies aimed at refining their design for better therapeutic utility.

Molecular dynamics (MD) is a powerful technique for studying microscopic phenomena, but its computational cost has driven significant interest in the development of deep learning-based surrogate models. We introduce generative modeling of molecular trajectories as a paradigm for learning flexible multi-task surrogate models of MD from data. By conditioning on appropriately chosen frames of the trajectory, we show such generative models can be adapted to diverse tasks such as forward simulation, transition path sampling, and trajectory upsampling.
