Traumatic brain injury (TBI)-associated neuroinflammation and neurotoxicity can induce gastrointestinal dysfunction through the brain-gut axis. Partially hydrolyzed guar gum (PHGG) was demonstrated to exert beneficial health effects by altering gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) production. Our study aimed to explore the effects of PHGG on gastrointestinal dysfunction in TBI mouse models.

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances and Twin Growth Discordance: New Insights from a Twin Birth Cohort Study.

Prenatal exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) has been linked to adverse fetal growth and development. However, most evidence was generated based on the singleton pregnancy studies, whereas potential impact on twin fetuses remains largely unknown. This study aimed to explore the associations of prenatal PFAS exposure with the growth and developmental differences within twin pairs by investigating 162 twin newborns and their mothers and determining 19 PFASs in maternal serum during the first, second, and third trimesters and cord serum of twins.

Background: Tumor-associated fibrosis modifies the tumor microenvironment (TME), hinders the infiltration and activity of cytotoxic immune cells, and is a critical pathological process leading to the ineffectiveness of tumor immunotherapy in gastric cancer (GC). However, the specific mechanisms and interventions are yet to be fully explored.

Methods: Our study included 375 gastric cancer samples from TCGA, 1 single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) dataset comprising of 15 gastric cancer samples from GEO, 19 cohorts of immunotherapy and 2 GWAS datasets.

Since the 20th century, more than three-score macrocyclic drugs, including radiopharmaceuticals, have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating bacterial and viral infections, cancer, obesity, immunosuppression, inflammatory, and neurological disorders, managing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and more.

Comparison of the Effectiveness of Different Antidepressants in Preventing Psychiatric Rehospitalization.

Objective: Patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) often face poor health outcomes. Additionally, patients with multiple hospitalizations tend to have worse predicted disease prognosis. Antidepressant medications remain a first-line treatment option for MDD, but data evaluating the effects of different antidepressants on psychiatric readmission rates is lacking.
