Background: Foetal echocardiography has been used to diagnose congenital heart disease. However, conventional echocardiography can only display two-dimensional (2D) structural images of the intricate three-dimensional (3D) foetal heart.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to report the first use of a new transabdominal xMATRIX array transducer and to describe its ability to perform all 3D modalities: intelligent spatiotemporal image correlation (iSTIC) acquisition, xPlane imaging and 3D surface imaging.

A longitudinal study of diarrheal disease among patients of all ages with acute diarrhea was carried out in New Caledonia from January 1990 to December 1991. Stool samples from 2,088 diarrheal patients were examined for parasites, rotavirus, and bacterial pathogens. Potential sources of contamination (drinking water, seawater and bovine and porcine feces) were investigated.

An extensive dengue epidemic was reported in New Caledonia en 1989. Environmental factors (temperature and rainfalls) directly controlled the mosquitos population at the end of 1988. The introduction of a new dengue virus, transmitted by Aedes aegypti, was responsible for an epidemic that occurred in January-April 1989 and lasted until July 1989.
