Introduction And Hypothesis: The aim of this prospective study was to examine the impact of sociodemographic, pregnancy and obstetric characteristics on sexual function 12 months postpartum in primiparous women. We hypothesized that sexual function would decrease after childbirth.

Methods: Between 1 October 2014 and 1 October 2017, all nulliparous women in early pregnancy registering for maternity health care in Region Örebro County, Sweden, were invited to participate in this prospective study.

Shiga toxin (Stx) is the key virulence factor in the Shiga Toxin-Producing (STEC), which can cause diarrhea and hemorrhagic colitis with potential life-threatening complications. There are two major types of Stx: Stx1 and Stx2. Several Stx1/Stx2 subtypes have been identified in , varying in sequences, toxicity and host specificity.

Article Synopsis
  • Hydroxylated polybrominated diphenyl ethers (OH-PBDEs) are harmful chemicals produced by algae and cyanobacteria in the Baltic Sea, impacting fish health.
  • The study measured OH-PBDE levels and biomarkers in 84 European perch over several months, finding that exposure to OH-PBDEs correlated with changes in specific biomarkers.
  • Key findings include positive correlations of EROD activity, plasma lactate, and glucose with OH-PBDE levels, while lipid percentage and liver somatic index had negative correlations, highlighting potential health risks for fish in this environment.

Background: The aim of this study was to estimate the incidence of second-degree perineal tears, obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASI), and high vaginal tears in primiparous women, and to examine how sociodemographic and pregnancy characteristics, hereditary factors, obstetric management and the delivery process are associated with the incidence of these tears.

Methods: All nulliparous women registering at the maternity health care in Region Örebro County, Sweden, in early pregnancy between 1 October 2014 and 1 October 2017 were invited to participate in a prospective cohort study. Data on maternal and obstetric characteristics were extracted from questionnaires completed in early and late pregnancy, from a study-specific delivery protocol, and from the obstetric record system.

In this paper, we present a technique for dimensionality reduction in hyperspectral imaging during the data collection process. A four-channel hyperspectral imager using liquid crystal Fabry-Perot etalons has been built and used to verify this method for four applications: auroral imaging, plant study, landscape classification, and anomaly detection. This imager is capable of making measurements simultaneously in four wavelength ranges while being tunable within those ranges, and thus can be used to measure narrow contiguous bands in four spectral domains.
