[The 510th case: fever of unknown origin, acute kidney injury].

A 65-year-old male was admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The patient had intermittent fever for 2 months with a maximum body temperature of 39.3 ℃ and elevated serum creatinine levels for 1 week.

Relationship between cognitive impairment and hippocampal iron overload: a quantitative susceptibility mapping study of a rat model.

Background: The aim of this study was to establish an iron overload rat model to simulate the elevated iron levels in patients with thalassemia and to investigate the potential association between hippocampal iron deposition and cognition.

Methods: Two groups of iron overloaded rats and one group of control rats were used for this study. The Morris water maze (MWM) was used to test spatial reference memory indicated by escape latency time and number of MWM platform crossings.

A total of 2106 lipid metabolites were identified by UPLC-MS/MS.

Biomarkers.

Background: AD-NeuroScore is a validated metric that summarizes Alzheimer's disease (AD)-specific atrophy and can detect AD early, benchmark disease severity, predict and monitor AD progression, and can aid in testing the efficacy of therapeutic interventions using a single number (Kress, 2023). It meets criteria for translatability by using clinically available regional brain volumes as input (Ahdidan, 2015; Cavedo, 2022) and having patient and model-level interpretability (Pinto, 2022). Also, features can be reviewed by a neuroradiologist (Larson, 2019).
