Gender bias has been documented in many aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers, yet efforts to identify the underlying causes have been inconclusive. To what extent do cognitive biases, including unequal receptiveness in women and men to evidence of gender bias, contribute to gender bias in STEM? We investigated receptiveness in a STEM context among members of the general public, by undertaking a high-powered (total = 1171) replication, including three experiments (2 pre-registered) of the prominent study by Handley . [22].

Here, we investigated whether the risk of misdiagnosis and the malignant potential of GM warrant its place in the UK surveillance.

Dairy cow urine patches contain high rates of nitrogen (N; >500 kg N/ha) and represent the main source of N loss from grazed pastoral systems. Emerging research has identified plantain (Plantago lanceolata) as a key forage to potentially reduce urine N (UN) losses from dairy cows. This experiment examined the effect of increasing proportions of plantain in the diet of dairy cows on UN excretion relative to a ryegrass-white clover diet.
