The goal of child forensic interviewers is to obtain as much information as possible through open-ended recall. Unfortunately, typically interviewers quickly switch to focused questions. This article suggests a way of eliciting more open-ended recall by using the narrative elaboration (NE) procedure, which includes four initial prompts about event participants, context, actions, conversations, and thoughts.

Although direct agonism of the NMDAR has not yielded promising therapeutics, advances have been made by modulating the NMDAR co-agonist site which is activated by glycine and D-serine. One approach to activate the co-agonist site is to increase synaptic D-serine levels through inhibition of D-amino acid oxidase (DAO), the major catabolic clearance pathway for this and other D-amino acids.

These inhibitors were shown to possess a novel binding mode by X-ray crystallography, in which the triazolo N1 atom coordinates in a hitherto unreported monodentate interaction with the active site Fe ion, while the benzonitrile group accepts a hydrogen-bonding interaction from the side chain residue of Asn315. Further optimization led to potent PHD-1 inhibitors with good physicochemical and pharmacokinetic properties.

Background: When influenza is circulating in the community, influenza vaccination of healthcare workers may reduce morbidity and sick leave and may also reduce mortality in older hospitalized patients. Despite this, vaccine uptake in healthcare workers remains low.
To elucidate the effects of nitrous oxide (N2O) on left ventricular (LV) pump performance and contractility, 28 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery were studied, of whom 15 had depressed global LV function at preoperative catheterization. Transesophageal echocardiography and simultaneous hemodynamic measurements were used to assess LV preload, afterload, and systolic performance during inhalation of 100% oxygen (O2) and 60% N2O:40% O2. Systolic function indices were expressed as a percent of the predicted value for observed end-systolic stress to provide estimates of LV contractility.
