We present a single-shot method to measure motional states in the number basis. The technique can be applied to systems with at least three nondegenerate energy levels which can be coupled to a linear quantum harmonic oscillator. The method relies on probing an Autler-Townes splitting that arises when a phonon-number changing transition is strongly coupled.

The enantioselective synthesis of densely functionalized polycarbocycles by the rhodium(i)-catalyzed reaction of arylboronic acids with 1,3-diketones is described. The key step in these desymmetrizing domino addition-cyclization reactions is an alkenyl-to-aryl 1,4-Rh(i) migration, which enables arylboronic acids to function effectively as 1,2-dimetalloarene surrogates.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes severe lower respiratory tract infections in young infants. There are no RSV-specific treatments available. Ablynx has been developing an anti-RSV F-specific nanobody, ALX-0171.

Phosphoinositide-3-kinase δ (PI3Kδ) is a critical regulator of cell growth and transformation and has been explored as a therapeutic target for a range of diseases. Through the exploration of the thienopyrimidine scaffold, we have identified a ligand-efficient methylation that leads to remarkable selectivity for PI3Kδ over the closely related isoforms. Interrogation through the Free-Wilson analysis highlights the innate selectivity the thienopyrimidine scaffold has for PI3Kδ and provides a predictive model for the activity against the PI3K isoforms.

Objectives: Self-management support aims to give people with chronic disease confidence to actively manage their disease, in partnership with their healthcare provider. A meta-review can inform policy-makers and healthcare managers about the effectiveness of self-management support strategies for people with type 2 diabetes, and which interventions work best and for whom.

Design: A meta-review of systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) was performed adapting Cochrane methodology.
