Purpose: To assess the attitudes and behaviors of physicians, hospital pharmacists, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals toward naloxone use. This survey will help the University Medical Center New Orleans Analgesic Management Stewardship team understand barriers and determine the education needed to improve the care we provide.
Methods: A survey was conducted at a single center, and it contained 17 questions: two concerning provider type and practice setting, followed by 15 qualitative questions to be answered in a Likert scale format, with options ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree.
To describe the spontaneous closure of a chronic, persistent, stage 4 full-thickness macular hole (FTMH) that did not respond to surgical treatment but closed after an episode of cystoid macular edema (CME) secondary to acute iritis. A single case was evaluated. A 71-year-old woman presented with decreased vision in the left eye for 6 months.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFMild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a prodromal stage in aging to possible progression to Alzheimer's disease and related dementia (ADRD), where co-occurrence of major depressive disorder (MDD) accelerates the progression. Metabolic and mitochondrial abnormalities in ADRD and other neurodegenerative disorders have been widely suggested, while possible mitochondrial dysfunction has been associated with etiopathology of both MCI and MDD. Hence, investigation of mitochondrial markers in MCI, MDD, and presence of both conditions is warranted.
