Scanning electron microscopy and atom probe tomography characterization of laser powder bed fusion precipitation strengthening nickel-based superalloy.

Atom probe tomography (APT) was utilized to supplement scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characterization of a precipitation strengthening nickel-based superalloy, Alloy 247LC, processed by laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF). It was observed that the material in the as-built condition had a relatively high strength. Using both SEM and APT, it was concluded that the high strength was not attributed to the typical precipitation strengthening effect of γ'.

Choice models in Nordic long-term care: care managers' experiences of privilege and disadvantage among older adults.

Consumer choice models have been introduced in eldercare services in several Western welfare societies. Choice models in eldercare emphasise the importance of individuals' abilities to make informed choices and therefore entail a risk for increased inequalities among older adults with care needs. In the Nordic countries, such inequality risks are in stark contrast to universal policy ambitions of equal access to care services.

Influence of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Process Parameters on Voids, Cracks, and Microhardness of Nickel-Based Superalloy Alloy 247LC.

The manufacturing of parts from nickel-based superalloy Alloy 247LC by laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) is challenging, primarily owing to the alloy's susceptibility to cracks. Apart from the cracks, voids created during the L-PBF process should also be minimized to produce dense parts. In this study, samples of Alloy 247LC were manufactured by L-PBF, several of which could be produced with voids and crack density close to zero.

Just Like Any Other Family? Everyday Life Experiences of Mothers of Adults with Severe Mental Illness in Sweden.

This study explores experiences of mothers in Sweden who care for their adult children suffering from severe mental illness. Using 15 interviews with mothers from 40 to 80 years old, the article examines how predominant professional knowledge and sanism constructs the mothers and their children as deviant and what counterstrategies the mothers develop as a response to these experiences of discrimination. The findings show that the mothers' experiences are characterized by endless confrontations with negative attitudes and comments that have forced them to go through painful and prolonged processes of self-accusations for not having given enough love, care, support and help in different stages of their children's life.

Measuring the value of older people's production: a diary study.

Background: The productive capacity of retired people is usually not valued. However, some retirees produce much more than we might expect. This diary-based study identifies the activities of older people, and suggests some value mechanisms.
