Evisceration with primary implant placement in patients with endophthalmitis.

Purpose: To assess the feasibility of evisceration with primary implant placement in patients with endophthalmitis.

Design: Pilot retrospective study.

Participants: Sixty-seven patients with endophthalmitis.

Lack of response to systemic corticosteroids in patients with lymphangioma.

Lymphangioma is a benign nonencapsulated orbital tumor that is difficult to treat. Recently, systemic corticosteroids were advocated as a safe and effective alternative to surgical drainage of the cysts. We describe our experience with 3 cases in which proptosis progressed or did not improve despite the exclusive use of systemic steroids for 1 week, necessitating urgent surgical intervention.

Repair of exposed porous polyethylene implants utilizing flaps from the implant capsule.

Purpose: To determine the feasibility of the use of flaps from the capsule surrounding porous polyethylene implants in repairing large or recurrent implant exposures.

Design: Retrospective, noncomparative, interventional case series.

Participants: Sixteen patients with exposed porous polyethylene implants.
