TDP43 augments astrocyte inflammatory activity through mtDNA-cGAS-STING axis in NMOSD.

Abnormality in transactivating response region DNA binding protein 43 (TDP43) is well-recognized as the pathological hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases. However, the role of TDP43 in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) remains unknown. Here, our observations demonstrate an upregulation of TDP43 in both in vitro and in vivo models of NMOSD, as well as in biological samples from NMOSD patients.

The origin and transmission of HIV-1 CRF80_0107 among two major first-tier cities in China.

Background: CRF01_AE and CRF07_BC are the two most prevalent HIV-1 genotypes in China, and the co-circulation of these two genotypes has led to the continuous generation of CRF_0107 viruses in recent years. However, little is known about the origin and spread of CRF_0107 viruses thus far. This study focused on HIV-1 CRF80_0107, which we previously identified among the MSM population in Beijing and Hebei Province, to explore the demographic distribution, transmission links, and temporal-spatial evolutionary features of the HIV-1 CRF80_0107 strain in China.

Evolutionary analysis of the DHHCs in Saccharinae.

The DHHC domain genes are crucial for protein lipid modification, a key post-translational modification influencing membrane targeting, subcellular trafficking, and protein function. Despite their significance, the DHHC gene family in Saccharinae remains understudied. Here, we identified 32 (110 alleles), 28, 53, and 48 DHHC genes in Saccharum spontaneum Np-X, Erianthus rufipilus, Miscanthus sinensis, and Miscanthus lutarioriparius, respectively.

Comparative clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with manipulation and other non-pharmacological interventions in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation: a prospective, multi-arm, randomized, open-label, blinded endpoint trial.

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of four intervention methods-traditional Chinese manipulation combined with acupuncture, acupuncture alone, manipulation alone, and traction-for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH).

Methods: A prospective, multi-arm, randomized, parallel-controlled clinical trial was conducted between July 2021 and June 2024. A total of 240 eligible LDH patients were randomized into four groups (60 patients per group) in a 1:1:1:1 ratio: manipulation combined with acupuncture group, manipulation group, acupuncture group, and traction group.

Frank Invasion in Tall Cell Carcinoma with Reversed Polarity of the Breast: Report of Two Cases.

Tall cell carcinoma with reversed polarity (TCCRP) is a rare neoplasm of the breast composed of columnar tumor cells arranged in solid and solid papillary nests with evidence of apical nuclear polarity. No frank invasion is evident despite the lack of a myoepithelial cell layer throughout the tumor. TCCRP has a triple negative or hormone receptor-low immunophenotype.
