Increasing Safety Net Antibiotic Prescriptions for Acute Otitis Media in Urgent Care Clinics.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of multifaceted interventions in improving the use of safety net antibiotic prescriptions (SNAPs) for nonsevere acute otitis media (AOM).

Study Design: We used quality improvement methodology to develop iterative Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles to increase the use of SNAP for nonsevere AOM in 3 pediatric urgent care centers from October 2021 to June 2023. Interventions included education, electronic health record changes, audits and feedback, and a time-limited financial incentive.

Sleep Problems and Gambling Disorder: Cross-Sectional Relationships in a Young Cohort.

Aims: To investigate the potential association between gambling disorder and symptoms of sleep problems (including insomnia and excessive daytime sleepiness). It was hypothesised that, compared to controls, individuals with gambling disorder would have significantly greater disturbance of sleep, as indicated by increased scores in: (1) sleep items on the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A) and Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAM-D); (2) total score on the HAM-A and HAM-D; and (3) the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS).

Methods: Secondary analysis of previously published data from 152 young adults, aged 18-29 years.

Prolonged exposure to indoor air pollutants at high concentrations can have adverse health effects on the respiratory system of individuals who spend most of their time indoors. Formaldehyde (FA) is a common indoor air pollutant because of its extensive use in household products such as cleaners, floorings, and furnishings. As a chemical, FA is highly water soluble and reactive.

Product Distribution of Steady-State and Pulsed Electrochemical Regeneration of 1,4-NADH and Integration with Enzymatic Reaction.

The direct electrochemical reduction of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) results in various products, complicating the regeneration of the crucial 1,4-NADH cofactor for enzymatic reactions. Previous research primarily focused on steady-state polarization to examine potential impacts on product selectivity. However, this study explores the influence of dynamic conditions on the selectivity of NAD reduction products by comparing two dynamic profiles with steady-state conditions.
