Background: Health-promoting universities are dedicated to fostering learning environments and organizational cultures that support the physical and mental well-being of students, faculty, and staff. As students constitute the largest group within the university community, any policy intervention targeting them is likely to have a significant impact on the university as a whole.
Objective: This study aims to assess the health status and needs of Qatar University (QU) students using a comprehensive and holistic definition of health, informed by the perspectives of students, faculty members, and key informants.
Background: This study provides a head-to-head comparison of the protection provided by the BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273 vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 infection and against severe COVID-19, covering primary series and third dose/booster vaccinations over up to 3 years of follow-up, both before and after the emergence of the omicron variant.
Methods: Two national, matched, retrospective cohort studies were conducted on Qatar's vaccinated population from December 16, 2020, to February 18, 2024. Subgroup analyses by pre-vaccination SARS-CoV-2 infection history, as well as sensitivity analyses, were also conducted.
Background: bacteraemia (SAB) may lead to periprosthetic joint infections (PJI) haematogenous spread of bacteria to the joint. Due to the risk of PJI, patients with SAB and prosthetic joint are recommended prolonged antibiotic treatment. The aim of the study was to assess the risk of PJI during SAB, and to evaluate if short treatment duration affects outcomes in patients with uncomplicated SAB and prosthetic joints without clinical signs of PJI.
