Predictors for noncompliant intravascular catheter insertion site dressings at a large academic center.

Using intravascular catheter dressing audit data, we evaluated factors associated with noncompliant dressing. Male sex and gauze dressing had a higher risk of noncompliant dressing; presence of one or more lumens infusing, central venous catheter, peripherally inserted central catheters line, implantable port and contact precautions were associated with a lower risk of noncompliant dressing.

A Serological Assay for the Detection of Antibodies Generated Against California Serogroup Virus Infection.

The California serogroup (CSG) viruses are orthobunyaviruses endemic in North America and responsible for the second most common cause of mosquito-borne viral encephalitis in the United States. As the CSG viruses have been neglected and are poorly studied, there are no commercial diagnostic serological assays or reagents available for detection. Therefore, diagnostic laboratories have had to rely on the development of their own in-house serological assays.

Sarcopenia may increase cisplatin toxicity in bladder cancer patients with borderline renal function.

Objectives: To assess whether the effect of sarcopenia on neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) toxicity is modified by borderline renal function (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] 40-65 mL/min) and whether sarcopenia and borderline renal function are independently associated with NAC toxicity risk.

Patients And Methods: All patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) who underwent radical cystectomy (RC) between 2010 and 2022, with available cross-sectional imaging prior to NAC initiation, were included. Skeletal mass was measured from axial computed tomography images obtained at the level of the L3 vertebral body, using Aquarius Intuition software.

Understanding university students' experiences of sitting while studying at home: A qualitative study.

University students are typically highly sedentary, which is associated with adverse physical and mental health outcomes. Attempts to understand university students' sedentary behaviour have typically focused on on-campus teaching and learning activities. While such research has documented that students perceive studying as one of the main barriers to reducing sedentary behaviour, there is little understanding of how and why studying incurs sitting, especially during home-based studying.
