Myiasis in the Neglected Tracheostomy Wound.

Myiasis is the term referring to an infestation of dipterous larvae in the living body tissue, where they feed on the tissue and cause infection. It is typically found in individuals living in unhygienic conditions, with foul-smelling odor emanating from neglected wounds or body discharge, which attract flies to lay their eggs in the affected area. Myiasis can cause life-threatening complications if maggots invade vital organs, resulting in sepsis, hemorrhage, and organ dysfunction.

Repurposing Secukinumab and Dapagliflozin as Candidate Therapies to Mitigate the Renal Toxicity of Sunitinib in Rats Through Suppressing IL-17-Mediated Pyroptosis and Promoting Autophagy.

Sunitinib (SUN) is a chemotherapeutic agent showing renal toxicity that limits its clinical applications. The present research aimed to clarify the potential ameliorative effects of secukinumab (SEC) and dapagliflozin (DAPA) against SUN-induced renal toxicity and the underpinning molecular mechanisms. For this purpose, adult Wistar albino rats were received SUN (25 mg/kg 3 times/week, po) and co-treated with SEC (3 mg/kg/every 2 weeks, subcutaneously) or DAPA (10 mg/kg/day, po) for 4 weeks and compared with age-matched control group (CON).

Comparison of Efficacy of Beractant (SURVANTA®) and Poractant Alfa (CUROSURF®) in Preterm Infants With Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Tawam Hospital, Al Ain, UAE: A Retrospective Study.

Introduction Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among preterm infants, necessitating effective treatment strategies. This study compared the efficacy of Beractant (SURVANTA®) to Poractant alfa (CUROSURF®) in treating RDS in preterm infants admitted to Tawam Hospital in the UAE. Methodology This retrospective study included preterm infants from 23+0 to 36+6 weeks of gestation with a diagnosis of RDS and treatment by Beractant or Poractant alfa within 48 hours of life between January 2020 and March 2023.

Risk Factors for Developing Adenovirus-Associated Post-Infectious Bronchiolitis Obliterans.
