Atypical Power Doppler Ultrasound Findings in Juvenile Idiopathic Inflammatory Myositis (JIIM) Flare.

Juvenile idiopathic inflammatory myositis (JIIM) is a multisystem inflammatory disease that impacts the muscles, skin, and blood vessels. Gray-scale power Doppler ultrasound is a technique that can be used to assist the diagnosis of JIIM and myositis in general. We report a case of an atypical symptomatic JIIM myositis flare that shows increased muscle echogenicity without the corresponding increase (complete absence) of Doppler flow.

Hematuria as an adverse outcome following provocative growth hormone stimulation testing in children.

Background: Provocative growth hormone (GH) stimulation testing is used to evaluate short stature and growth failure in children. Agents commonly used for testing include clonidine, arginine and glucagon. While stimulation testing is generally considered safe, gross hematuria has been described as a rare idiopathic complication of GH stimulation testing.

Practical experiences with prostaglandins in heifers and dairy cows.

This paper describes the extent to which utilisation of prostaglandins (PG) to achieve synchronisation of oestrus can influence certain economic results. Special attention is paid to the fertility status (FS) and calving index in dairy cows, where PG-treated groups are compared with untreated groups. With regard to these parameters a significant difference exists in favour of the PG treated group.
