A 50-year-old woman had a right hemicoletomy due to a large sessile polyp in the ascending colon, inappropriate for polypectomy. Histopathologic examination of the specimen showed a tubulovillous adenoma with moderate dysplasia and an adjacent 1 x 1 cm submucosal tumor classified as a benign GCT due to the appearance in the light microscope and immunohistochemical analysis. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of synchronic adenoma and GCT in the colon.

Haemoperitoneum due to a ruptured porta-systemic shunt in patients with cirrhosis and portal hypertension seems to be rare, and the diagnosis is generally first established during surgery. A case of intraperitoneal bleeding due to a ruptured varix in a cluster of varices between the greater omentum and the right broad ligament is reported and the literature is reviewed. In cirrhotic patients, sudden onset of abdominal pain in combination with hypotension should result in ultrasonography of the abdomen.

Unlabelled: In the present study we investigated the serum lipoprotein and lipid levels in patients with intermittent claudication (n = 66), divided according to their blood groups in the ABO system (bloodtype A, n = 40 and bloodtype "non-A", n = 26). We again found the expected predominance of blood type A (61%). However, we found no significant differences in any of the biochemical variables between patients belonging to blood group A and "non-A".

In a follow-up study of 32 patients with duodenal ulcer complicated by pyloric stenosis treated by highly selective vagotomy and dilatation of the stricture, we found an ulcer recurrence rate of 19% and a restenosis rate of 7.6% after a minimum of six years of observation. It is concluded, that dilatation can be used as an alternative to former surgical procedures in the treatment of pyloric stenosis and that highly selective vagotomy is still justified in the treatment of some cases of duodenal ulcer.
