We supposed mycotoxin contamination to be one of the possible causes because multi-mycotoxin contamination is known to be dangerous even at low toxin levels, especially for young animals. Seven segments (L1-L3, M2-M3, S2, and S4) of the Hungarian MRV isolate MORV/47Ma/06 revealed a high similarity with an MRV strain detected in bank vole (Myodes glareolus) in Germany. The M1 and S3 segment of the Hungarian isolate showed the closest relationship with the sequence of a Slovenian human and a French murine isolate, respectively.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to survey the prevalence of human hantavirus infections among forestry workers, who are considered a risk population for contracting the disease. Sera collected from volunteers were tested for antibodies against Dobrava-Belgrade (DOBV) and Puumala (PUUV) viruses.

In order to detect TULV, we tested Microtus arvalis (MAR) and Microtus subterraneus (MSU) voles captured in two different locations of the Southern Transdanubian region of Hungary. Specific IgM antibodies against DOBV were identified by an immunofluorescence assay, while viral nucleic acid was detected by the molecular method, confirming the diagnosis.
