Background: At least 20% of the future liver remnant must function properly after liver tumor resection to avoid post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF). [Tc]Tc-mebrofenin scintigraphy and SPECT are unique noninvasive, quantitative methods for evaluating liver function via hepatocellular bilirubin clearance.
Aim: To evaluate the value of dynamic [Tc]Tc-mebrofenin SPECT/CT parameters for predicting clinically relevant PHLF according to the ISGLS criteria.
Background: Perianal fistulas of Crohn's disease (CD) create a significant burden on patients' lives. However, the efficacy and safety of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell treatment are contradicting, and real-world evidence is lacking.
Aims: To examine the usability of darvadstrocel therapy in managing perianal CD.
For early-stage non-small cell lung cancer, surgical resection remains the best treatment option. Currently, sublobar resection, including segmentectomy, is recommended in these cases, as it provides a better quality of life with the same oncological outcomes; however, is requires adequate resection margins. Accurate preoperative planning and proper identification of the intersegmental planes during thoracic surgery are crucial for ensuring precise surgical management and adequate resection margins.

Beyond the non-surgical factors, the type of operation, including the number of incisions, and the anesthetic assessment seemed to be important factors, although some studies are controversial. The aim of our study was to examine the presence of chronic postoperative pain after non-intubated uniportal VATS lobectomy.

Increased co-translational protein aggregation reflects altered translation regulation that may have the potential to buffer transcription under genotoxic stress. As an indicator for such an event, we followed the cytoplasmic aggregation of RPB1, the aggregation-prone largest subunit of RNA polymerase II, in biopsy samples taken from patients with invasive carcinoma of no special type.

Patient Population, Methods: 138 patients were included in our study between 01.01.
Epithelial ion and fluid secretion determine the physiological functions of a broad range of organs, such as the lung, liver, or pancreas. The molecular mechanism of pancreatic ion secretion is challenging to investigate due to the limited access to functional human ductal epithelia. Patient-derived organoids may overcome these limitations, however direct accessibility of the apical membrane is not solved.

In the last decades, several positive changes happened in the treatment of this disease, as breast cancer screening, and introducing more effective oncological and surgical therapeutical methods. Qualitative and methodological development of breast surgery, the centralisation and the daily practice of quality assurance principles together will play an important role in reduction of breast cancer mortality in the future.

Method: Neoadjuvant oncological treatment for GEJ and gastric cancer previously consisted of the intravenous administration of epirubicin, cisplatin and fluorouracil (ECF) or epirubicin, cisplatin and capecitabine (ECX) combination (Group 1). The new protocol (FLOT, F: 5-FU, L: leucovorin, O: oxaliplatin, T: docetaxel), included patients with resectable GEJ and gastric cancer who had a clinical stage cT or higher nodal positive cN+ disease (Group 2).
During the last decade, one of the most important treatment options for locally advanced, potencially resectable rectal tumours was neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by surgery. Effects of the neoadjuvant treatment on surgical outcomes were retrospectively analysed in 185 patients with stage T2-T4 and N0-2, resectable rectal tumour among two patient groups defined by radiosensitizer agents. Group 1 ( = 94) involved radiotherapy (RT) with 50.

During a 2-year period, seven surgically inoperable STSs were treated at the University of Szeged, Department of Surgery in Hungary. Electrode placement was determined by software planning using preoperative imaging (CT/MRI) and intraoperative ultrasound.

Thus, these techniques are advantageous in terms of being faster, safer, less invasive, and cheaper. There are a few fluorescent dyes available, but the most commonly used dye is indocyanine green.

The first semester at the university in Szeged started in 1921, so this year we celebrate the centenary. This event inspired authors to review the history of kidney transplantation in Szeged, remembering the first one and point of the cornerstones in the transplant program.

Non-intubated spontaneous ventilated (NITS) minimally invasive surgery (video-assisted thoracic surgery VATS) is a widespread procedure, but there are some doubts regarding its safety. We developed a safe method, spontaneous ventilation with intubation (SVI) to resolve these concerns.

Material and methods After the initiation of liver surgery in Szeged by Professor Karácsonyi 1982 we are treating not only patients with benign and malignant focal liver diseases but also others with surgery required because of complications of portal hypertension. Patients are presented in two periods.

The technique was initiated in the Department of Surgery, University of Szeged in 1994 and since then our working group has gained one of the greatest experiences in this field in Hungary. Based on our results, similarly to literature data, it may be established that laparoscopic splenectomy can be considered a surgical procedure with low morbidity after gaining the necessary experience.
