Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate comparative biomechanical fixation provided with the BDSF method with the conventional CC screw fixation for treatment of femoral neck fractures with three parallel cannulated screws.
Methods: This is a prospective cohort study. There were two teams of surgeons out of which one team operated the patients with BDSF technique and second with conventional CC screw fixation technique; thus, the patients were randomly distributed into two groups.
Purpose: Literature suggests that the lower modulus of elasticity of titanium makes it ideal for use in children compared with stainless steel. Better fracture stability was observed in association with titanium nails on torsional and axial compression testing. However, stainless steel nails are stiffer than titanium counterparts, which may provide a rigid construct when fixing paediatric femoral shaft fractures.
