Introduction: Recycling drenchers used to apply postharvest fungicides in pome fruit may spread microorganisms, i.e., plant and foodborne pathogens, that increase fruit loss and impact food safety.

We used whole transcriptome sequencing of 10 plasma samples with tumor-informed subtypes, complemented by proteomic analysis for minimally invasive identification of PDAC subtype markers. Data were validated in independent large cohorts and correlated with treatment response and patient outcome.

Endothelial dysfunction represents a potential pathomechanism of neurological post-COVID-19 syndrome (PCS). A recent study demonstrated reduced cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) in patients with PCS. The aim of this pilot study was to prospectively assess CVR in patients with PCS using breath-hold functional MRI (bh-fMRI).

In this regard, a quantitative description of the so-called decoupling from the reverse proportionality between viscosity and diffusion coefficient into a fractional one remains a challenge requiring a deeper insight. This work employs a Monte Carlo simulation framework in 3 dimensions to investigate the consequences of different scenarios for estimating this fractional exponent on the diffusion coefficient of tracers in polymers near glass transition.

The nab™ technology is a three-step process consisting of emulsification, high-pressure homogenization and solvent evaporation. Within this work, a screening approach was developed to predict whether active pharmaceutical ingredients are suitable for nab™ formulations.

Background: Patients with psychosis and patients with depression exhibit widespread neurobiological abnormalities. The analysis of dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) allows for the detection of changes in complex brain activity patterns, providing insights into common and unique processes underlying these disorders.
Methods: We report the analysis of dFC in a large sample including 127 patients at clinical high risk for psychosis, 142 patients with recent-onset psychosis, 134 patients with recent-onset depression, and 256 healthy control participants.
Introduction: Somatic symptom disorder (SSD) as introduced by the DSM-5 is characterized by chronic somatic symptoms not fully explained by underlying pathology and accompanied by psychological factors, the diagnostic B-criteria. These cognitive, affective, and behavioral disturbances are related to increased attention to somatic symptoms. However, there is a lack of empirical evidence regarding the association between the B-criteria and high symptom reporting in clinical settings.

By using albumin for particle stabilization, nab™ technology does not require solubilizers or emulsifiers for the formulation of poorly water-soluble drugs for intravenous use. Despite the great potential, however, to date only two products based on nab™ technology have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration: Abraxane® (nab™ paclitaxel) and Fyarro® (nab™ rapamycin).

Due to the 2019 pandemic of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), we are facing a significant increase of ME/CFS prevalence. On May 11th to 12th, 2023, the second international ME/CFS conference of the Charité Fatigue Center was held in Berlin, Germany, focusing on pathomechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment.

Measuring this parameter for products in their application temperature range can, however, be difficult to realise and time-consuming (due to the slow kinetics of diffusion). The aim of this study is to present a simple and time-saving platform for predicting the AI self-diffusivity in amorphous and semi-crystalline polymers on the basis of a modified version of Vrentas' and Duda's free volume theory (FVT) [A.

Methods: 375 patients with stage IV lung cancer who experienced an early or delayed therapy (early or delayed therapy group [TG]) were investigated using histology and ECOG performance score (ECOG-PS)-related subgroups. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were used for survival analyses.
Background: The clinical course of COVID-19 patients ranges from asymptomatic infection, via mild and moderate illness, to severe disease and even fatal outcome. Biomarkers which enable an early prediction of the severity of COVID-19 progression, would be enormously beneficial to guide patient care and early intervention prior to hospitalization.
Methods: Here we describe the identification of plasma protein biomarkers using an antibody microarray-based approach in order to predict a severe cause of a COVID-19 disease already in an early phase of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Melanoma, the deadliest cutaneous tumor, initiates within the epidermis; during progression, cells invade into the dermis and become metastatic through the lymphatic and blood system. Before melanoma cell invasion into the dermis, an increased density of dermal lymphatic vessels is observed, generated by a mechanism which is not fully understood. In this study, we show that, while at the primary epidermal stage (in situ), melanoma cells secrete extracellular vesicles termed melanosomes, which are uptaken by dermal lymphatic cells, leading to transcriptional and phenotypic pro-lymphangiogenic changes.

The main goal of this study is to develop an experimental toolbox to estimate the self-diffusion coefficient of active ingredients (AI) in single-phase amorphous solid dispersions (ASD) close to the glass transition of the mixture using dielectric spectroscopy (DS) and oscillatory rheology. The proposed methodology is tested for a model system containing the insecticide imidacloprid (IMI) and the copolymer copovidone (PVP/VA) prepared via hot-melt extrusion. For this purpose, reorientational and the viscoelastic structural (α-)relaxation time constants of hot-melt-extruded ASDs were obtained via DS and shear rheology, respectively.

The purpose of this study was to develop a sensitive approach relying on dielectric spectroscopy (DS) to characterize AAPS in ASDs. This includes detecting AAPS, determining the size of the active ingredient (AI) discrete domains in the phase-separated systems, and accessing the molecular mobility in each phase.

Although molecular subtypes such as classical and QM (quasi-mesenchymal)/basal-like with transcriptome-based distinct signatures have been identified, deduced therapeutic strategies and targets remain elusive. Gene expression data show enrichment of glycolytic genes in the more aggressive and therapy-resistant QM subtype.
