Radiative cooling is a passive cooling technology without any energy consumption, compared to conventional cooling technologies that require power sources and dump waste heat into the surroundings. For decades, many radiative cooling studies have been introduced but its applications are mostly restricted to nighttime use only. In transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), this has so far only been achieved using their inherent semiconducting nature. Here, we report the thickness-modulated band engineering of nanosheets based on semimetallic platinum diselenide (PtSe) resulting in a thermopower enhancement of more than 50 times than that of the bulk.
