Objective: To assess the effects of diagnostic nerve block and selective tibial neurotomy on spasticity and co-contractions in patients with spastic equinovarus foot.

Methods: Among 317 patients who underwent a tibial neurotomy between 1997 and 2019, 46 patients who met the inclusion criteria were retrospectively screened. Clinical assessment was made before and after diagnostic nerve block and within 6 months after neurotomy.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth utilization grew astronomically, encouraging more institutions of higher education to become innovative and proactive in preparing health care providers to deliver high-quality telehealth care. Telehealth can be creatively implemented throughout health care curricula given the appropriate guidance and tools. This article speaks to the development of student telehealth projects as part of the work of a national taskforce funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration and charged with the development of a telehealth toolkit.

We present the case of a posttraumatic C6 AIS A tetraplegic patient with spasticity treated with an intrathecal baclofen pump, who noticed a transient increase in his spasticity each time he used a digital tablet (Ipad) protected by a magnetic shell placed on his abdomen. Telemetry confirmed transient motor shutdown responsible for withdrawal symptoms each time the tablet was used. Symptoms resolved after the removal of the protective shell.

Health care providers are experiencing increased stress during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. While it is understood that increased stress leads to burnout, limited research has been conducted to evaluate advance practice nurse response to coronavirus disease 2019, and more specifically, self-identified modalities that may decrease stress in the workplace or at home. This pilot study evaluated advance practice nurse-perceived burnout and evaluated perceived needs and/or perception of modalities aimed at reducing stress and improving well-being, such as essential oils, quiet room, soothing music, art therapy, pet therapy, and mobile applications, that could be easily accessed in the workplace.

Background And Purpose: Transient tumor swelling is a well-known phenomenon following radiotherapy for vestibular schwannomas (VS). We analyzed the long-term volumetric changes of VS after LINAC radiosurgery, in order to determine a time interval during which a true tumor progression can be distinguished from a pseudoprogression.

Methods: Among 63 patients with VS treated by one fraction or fractionated radiotherapy, we selected 52 of them who had a minimal follow-up of 5 years.

Context: Serotonin syndrome is a drug-induced condition related to an increased level of serotonin in the brain, which may induce neuromuscular, autonomic and mental symptoms.

Case Report: A 40-year-old woman with hereditary spastic paraparesis (Strumpell-Lorrain disease) with an implanted intrathecal baclofen pump for severe spasticity. Two days after starting a medication known to inhibit serotonin re-uptake (paroxetine), she developed a sudden increase in lower limb spasticity with continuous spasms, fever, tachycardia and hypertension.
