Background: The positive association between adverse life events and somatoform disorders is a consistent observation. But no systematic studies have evaluated the relationship between health-related life events (HLEs) in patients with somatic symptom disorder (SSD)/somatoform disorders.
Aim: To examine the nature and relationship of HLE in patients with SSD and to assess the correlates of HLE.
There is some evidence consistently linking the occurrence of de novo obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) with clozapine. This skin-picking disorder is also known as impulsive-compulsive disorder-unspecified which with an increasing convergence with OCD has been placed in the current Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders-fifth edition by American Psychiatric Association (DSM-5), in the category of the obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. To the best of our knowledge, there is no literature relating antipsychotics like clozapine with the occurrence of skin-picking behaviour.

Psychogenic seizures are often underdiagnosed and epilepsy is very often over-treated which leads to multiple financial, social and stigma related difficulties. The myoclonic seizure itself is a rare phenomenon and when functional movement disorder presents like myoclonus then it's extremely difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. Here, we are presenting a case who was misdiagnosed as having a myoclonic seizure disorder and treated in multiple places without any improvement which ultimately turned out to be functional movement disorder of a rare variety.

Ventricular tachyarrhythmias are common in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy that may lead to syncope and sudden death. Bradyarrhythmia such as atrioventricular conduction disturbance, a relatively rare complication associated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, may also cause syncope and sudden death in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We report a 28-year old man who was diagnosed as a case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy presented with syncope and complete heart block.

Wavelength dependency was evident in the functional absorption cross-section of Photosystem II (σII(λ)), absolute electron transfer rates (ETR(II)), and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) of chlorophyll fluorescence in both HL and LL cells. The experiments were performed with algal cultures maintained at a constant 20 °C versus a 15 °C to 25 °C diel temperature cycle, where light intensity also followed a diel cycle with a maximum irradiance of 1920 µmol photons m(-2) s(-1). No differences in algal growth (Chlorophyll a) were found between the two environmental regimes; however, the metabolic processes responded differently throughout the day to the change in environmental conditions.

Methods: This was a prospective descriptive study which included all consecutive patients who were admitted for primary percutaneous coronary interventions between March 2011 and January 2013 at the College of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital, Bharatpur, Nepal.
Introduction: Mechanical revascularization by percutaneous coronary interventions has now become an established and preferable method of revascularization in patients with acute coronary syndromes. The aim of the study was to identify the clinical indications for percutaneous coronary interventions and in-hospital outcomes of percutaneous coronary interventions in a tertiary-level hospital without onsite cardiac surgery backup.
Methods: This was a prospective descriptive study.
Introduction: The dose-response relationship suggests a toxic effect of alcohol on heart and liver and the possibility of a correlation between alcohol-induced liver and heart disease. The present study was aimed to look into the relationship between chronic liver and heart muscle disease among the non-moderate drinkers in our context.
Methods: An observational study on non-moderate chronic drinkers was carried out.
Cardiogenic shock is characterized by inadequate tissue perfusion due to cardiac dysfunction and is the leading cause of death in patients hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction. Mortality from cardiogenic shock still remains high. The development of cardiogenic shock is rarely unexpected; most patients who develop cardiogenic shock do so within 48 hrs of admission, with only 10% shocked on arrival.

We present a patient with bilateral unruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysms involving both the left and right coronary sinuses. The large left sinus aneurysm protruded into the left atrium and the right sinus aneurysm extended into the interventricular septum, producing a transient complete heart block.

This study examined the influence of a calibrated transient stimulus on click evoked otoacoustic emissions (CEOAEs). The calibration procedure produced a spectrally uniform stimulus (1-8 kHz) at the plane of the ear probe that was very similar among individuals. However, the calibrated signal reduced the overall level and repeatability of the CEOAE, probably due to the minimization of the energy peak at 2 kHz, which is enhanced in the uncalibrated signal.
