Synthesis of an antigenic tetrasaccharide repeating unit of the -polysaccharide of lipopolysaccharide has been accomplished. Those four monosaccharides were assembled stereoselectively by employing our recently developed cationic gold(I)-catalyzed glycosylation methodology involving various glycosyl -1,1-dimethylpropargyl carbamate donors. The newly formed α-anomeric stereochemical configuration was controlled by the axial C2-OBz of the glycosyl donors via anchimeric assistance.

Purpose: Previous studies have reported Caspase-1 () is upregulated in mouse models of Juvenile X-linked Retinoschisis (XLRS), however no functional role for in disease progression has been identified. We performed electroretinogram (ERG) and standardized optical coherence tomography (OCT) in mice deficient in the Retinoschisin-1 () and and Caspase-11 genes (-KO ) to test the hypothesis that may play a role in disease evolution and or severity of disease. Currently, no studies have ventured to investigate the longer-term effects of on phenotypic severity and disease progression over time in XLRS, and specifically the effect on electroretinogram.

Our study aimed to explore the impact and mechanism of leaf extract on age-dependent oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and progressive memory impairments in aged mice. Twenty-four-month-old mice received EA-L3 (300 mg/kg/day) or the reference drug, donepezil (DPZ, 5 mg/kg/day), for 6 weeks, and learning and memory functions were detected using the Passive Avoidance Test (PAT). As expected, cognitive function deficits were detected in aged mice compared with young mice, and these deficits were significantly mitigated by dietary treatments with EA-L3.

To identify the vascular alteration by photodynamic therapy (PDT), the utilization of high-resolution, high-speed, and wide-field photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) has gained enormous interest. The rapid changes in vasculature during PDT treatment and monitoring of tumor tissue activation in the orthotopic pancreatic cancer model have received limited attention in previous studies. Here, a fully two-axes waterproof galvanometer scanner-based photoacoustic microscopy (WGS-PAM) system was developed for in vivo monitoring of dynamic variations in micro blood vessels due to PDT in an orthotopic pancreatic cancer mouse model.

The patella is the largest sesamoid bone in the body and an important structure of the extensor apparatus which is under undue stress during flexion and extension of the knee. Bilateral fracture of the patella without trauma is a very rare event and may be multifactorial without a single cause. A repetitive stress reaction in a previously predisposed bone can be an important cause.
