Article Synopsis
  • The study explores how using a simpler torso ECG (T-ECG) can speed up diagnosis and treatment for patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) when compared to traditional 12-lead ECG (C-ECG) methods.
  • Researchers placed T-ECG electrodes in specific positions on the body and tested its effectiveness on 1361 patients, analyzing over 1500 ECG sets to see if T-ECGs missed or misdiagnosed ACS changes.
  • The results showed that T-ECG matched C-ECG in accuracy, identifying 100% of ACS cases correctly, making it a reliable alternative for at-home ECG recording and faster communication with healthcare providers.

Background: We studied the dynamics of QT dispersion in patients with acute myocardial infarction, and compared them with those in controls.

Methods And Results: Serial electrocardiograms of patients admitted to our institute with acute myocardial infarction were analyzed for QT dispersion, and compared with those of healthy age- and sex-matched controls. QT dispersion from 12 leads was measured as maximum QT minus minimum QT interval in ms.
