Autologous Saphenous Vein Panel Graft for Vascular Reconstruction.

Background: This study aims to present early and midterm results of vascular reconstruction with saphenous vein panel graft.

Methods: Between August 2014 and August 2017, 11 saphenous vein panel grafts were used for vascular reconstruction in 10 patients. Patient data including age, gender, etiology of the vascular pathology, concomitant injury, site of injury, surgical procedure, additional surgical procedure, and hemodynamic status were retrospectively collected and analyzed.

Spontaneous triple coronary artery dissection.

Multivessel spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is extremely rare, and to the best of our knowledge, triple-vessel dissection has been reported in only 7 patients to date. We present the successful surgical treatment of the triple coronary artery dissection in a 57-year-old man. The patient had aortic valve replacement simultaneously.

Infective endocarditis is a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge that ultimately requires surgical intervention in 20% of all cases. Surgical treatment of active infective endocarditis requires not only hemodynamic repair, but also special emphasis on the eradiation of the infectious focus to prevent recurrence. This goal can be achieved by the combination of aggressive debridement of infective tissue and appropriate and adequate antibiotic treatment.

Does the level of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule 1 predict myocardial injury before cardiac markers increase?

Background: The measurement of cardiac markers is still the gold standard for diagnosing myocardial infarction (MI), but there is always a transition period between the time of infarction and when a marker can be measured in the blood. Therefore, clinicians are shifting their focus to the identification of potential new analytes capable of predicting MIs before the standard cardiac markers increase. In this study, we tested whether measurement of the concentration of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (sICAM-1) in plasma can be used for this purpose.

Surgical treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms associated with horseshoe kidney.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery associated with a horseshoe kidney (HSK) is a serious technical challenge for the surgeon. We reviewed our experience with 127 patients electively operated on between 1990 and 2004 for abdominal aortic aneurysm. Pre- and perioperative medical, surgical, and radiologic data were retrospectively reviewed.
