Enterohemorrhagic (EHEC) O157:H7 is a common food-borne pathogen that can cause acute diseases. Lysine acetylation is a post-translational modification (PTM) that occurs in various prokaryotes and is regulated by CobB, the only deacetylase found in bacteria. Here, we demonstrated that CobB plays an important role in the virulence of EHEC O157:H7 and that deletion of significantly decreased the intestinal colonization ability of bacteria.

Background: Data on the relationship between take-home video and the time to first ambulation remains scant. Here, we aimed to investigate whether viewed take-home video during pre-hospitalization is independently associated with the time to first ambulation in postoperative patients with inguinal hernia repair under general anesthesia.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed and analyzed the relationship between viewed take-home video and the time to first ambulation between September 2020 and October 2021.

During the past decades, immunotherapy, especially the antibody-mediated immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) has shown durable tumor inhibition and changed the paradigm of cancer treatment. However, a growing body of evidence suggests that ICB treatment induces severe immune-related adverse events (irAEs), and the side effect even leads to the discontinuation of lifesaving treatment. Here, we found that ICB treatment induces colitis in melanoma patients and promotes the infiltration of CD8 effector T cells into colitic lesions.

Diastereoselective Synthesis of Cephalotaxus Esters via Asymmetric Mukaiyama Aldol Reaction.

We report a protocol for efficient stereoselective installation of the chiral oxygen-containing tetrasubstituted tertiary carbon stereocenter of the side chain of cephalotaxus esters by means of highly diastereoselective Mukaiyama aldol reactions between α-keto esters (2) and a (Z)-α-chloro ketene silyl acetal. This protocol permitted synthesis of cephalotaxus esters including six natural products in good to excellent yields (up to 94%) with high diastereoselectivities (dr up to 97:3) and could be performed on a multigram scale.

c-Abl tyrosine kinase is under rigorous control because of an unknown cellular inhibitor that maintains c-Abl in a relatively inactive state. Because SH2 domains are positive regulators of the nonreceptor tyrosine kinases, we tested whether this putative inhibitor would bind to an Abl SH2 protein construct and thus activate the c-Abl tyrosine kinase. Expression of a Mr 10,000 Abl SH2 protein in COS-1 and Rat-1 cells activated the tyrosine kinase activity of p145 ABL and induced both morphological transformation and foci formation in Rat-1 cells.
