Kaempferol (Kae) is a flavonoid that has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects. In recent years, there have been increasing reports on viral infection-induced Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) with high rates of disability and fatality. Therefore, in order to search for effective peripheral nerve injury repair drugs, we used rats with experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN) as the typical animal model for GBS, and implemented Kae treatment intervention on EAN rats.

Osteosarcoma is a highly aggressive malignant bone tumor prone to metastasis, and its metastatic process is one of the main reasons for treatment failure and poor prognosis. Recent studies have demonstrated that modification of m6A methylation plays an important role in osteosarcoma metastasis, influencing both invasion and metastasis through various signaling pathways. Therefore, clarification of the specific effects of m6A methylation modification in osteosarcoma may reveal ways to improve the prognosis of osteosarcoma patients.

Childhood nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a serious disease affecting the health and quality of life of children, which is characterized by a series of pathophysiological changes due to the increased permeability of the glomerular membrane to plasma proteins. Low renal drug distribution and inefficient cellular uptake, resulting from cellular dysfunctions of filtration and internalization, are the main barriers to drug treatment in childhood NS, leading to deterioration in nephropathy. However, efficient therapeutic methods against childhood NS are still lacking in clinic.

A bias-selectable near-infrared (NIR) and extended short wavelength infrared (eSWIR) dual-band bandgap engineered GaAsSb/AlGaAsSb/T2SL (InGa As/GaAsSb) infrared photodetector, vertically stacked in a monolithic grown on InP substrate, is demonstrated. GaAsSb NIR sub-detector and T2SL eSWIR sub-detector are operated under small forward and reverse bias, respectively. The GaAsSb sub-detector functions within the NIR spectrum, with a 100% cutoff wavelength of 1.

Achieving high operating temperature (HOT) plays a crucial role in miniaturizing type-II superlattice (T2SL) mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) focal plane arrays (FPAs). However, their full potential has yet to be realized due to a lack of complete understanding of their operation from the perspective of detection principles. Here, by investigating the photon transmission path and optoelectronic performance of the simulated devices, a detailed noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) model of the T2SL MWIR FPAs was established.

Chitosan-gelatin-flavonoid functional composite films were prepared with chitosan, gelatin, and three flavonoids (Naringenin, Apigenin, and Luteolin). The effect of three flavonoids on physical, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties of functional composite film was investigated from experimental and Density functional theory (DFT) simulations. The tensile strength, thermal stability, water solubility, water vapor permeability, antioxidant activity, and antibacterial activity of chitosan-gelatin-flavonoid functional composite films were improved with flavonoid (Naringenin, Apigenin, and Luteolin) incorporation.

Biofilm-associated surgical site infection (BSSI) is a common and grievous postoperative complication lacking effective remedies, mainly due to the poor drug accumulation and penetration in the biofilms featured by dense extracellular polymeric substances (EPSs). Here, it is found that the vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM1) is highly overexpressed in the vascular cells of BSSI. It is proposed that the combination of VCAM1-mediated transcytosis and ultrasonic cavitation can consecutively overcome the biological barriers of vascular endothelial cells and EPS for biofilm eradication.

Label-free optical biosensors have become powerful tools in the study of biomolecular interactions without the need for labels. High throughput and low detection limit are desirable for rapid and accurate biomolecule detection. The oblique-incidence reflectivity difference (OI-RD) technique is capable of detecting thousands of biomolecular interactions in a high-throughput mode, specifically for biomolecules larger than 1000 Da.

Although Ru-based materials are among the outstanding catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), the instability issue still haunts them and impedes the widespread application. The instability of Ru-based OER catalysts is generally ascribed to the formation of soluble species through the over-oxidation of Ru and structural decomposition caused by involvement of lattice oxygen. Herein, an effective strategy of selectively activating the lattice oxygen around Ru site is proposed to improve the OER activity and stability.
