Purpose: This study investigated potential predictive models associated with natural killer (NK) cell mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP or ΔΨm) in predicting death among critically ill patients with COVID-19.
Patients And Methods: We included 97 patients with COVID-19 of different severities attending Peking Union Medical College Hospital from December 2022 to January 2023. Patients were divided into three groups according to oxygen and mechanical ventilation use during specimen collection and were followed for survival and death at 3 months.
Background: Scarcity of annotated image data sets of thin blood smears makes expert-level differentiation among species challenging. Here, we aimed to establish a deep learning algorithm for identifying and classifying malaria parasites in thin blood smears and evaluate its performance and clinical prospect.
Methods: You Only Look Once v7 was used as the backbone network for training the artificial intelligence algorithm model.

Background: Normosmic congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (nCHH) is a rare disease, whose pathogenesis remains unclear. Here, we conducted untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics to identify seminal plasma signatures of nCHH, and to study the effect of LH and FSH deficiency on semen.
Methods: Twenty-five diagnosed patients with nCHH (HH group) and twenty-three healthy participants (HC group) were enrolled.
Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a life-threatening cardiovascular syndrome that characterized by the imbalance of hemostasis and thrombosis and the formation of thrombi in the blood vessels. The aim of this study was to elucidate the clinical impact of the PAI-1 4G/5G polymorphism in Chinese patients with VTE.
Methods: A total of 169 subjects (89 VTE, 10 hyperbilirubinemia, 10 hyperlipidemia and 60 healthy controls) were recruited at Peking Union Medical College Hospital.
Background: Pituitary stalk interruption syndrome (PSIS) is a rare disease caused by congenital pituitary anatomical defects. The underlying mechanisms remain unclear, and the diagnosis is difficult. Here, integrated metabolomics and lipidomics profiling were conducted to study the pathogenesis of PSIS.

Although the delta check graph of haematology test had been reported by Berend Houwen in 1989, problems still exist in its clinical application. This study aims to provide a simplified and practical process for the improvement of validity in haematology testing.
