Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a highly contagious coronavirus, causing fatal acute diarrhea in suckling pigs, with mortality rates as high as 100 % in 7-day-old piglets. Due to the challenge of quickly establishing effective active immunity, the main strategy for protecting piglets from PEDV infection relies on antibodies, particularly neutralizing antibodies, to provide passive immune protection.
