Background: Lipid metabolism is closely related to the occurrence and development of breast cancer. Our purpose was to establish a novel model based on lipid metabolism-related long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and evaluate the potential clinical value in predicting prognosis for patients suffering from breast cancer.

Methods: RNA data and clinical information for breast cancer were obtained from the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) database.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the survival rates of breast cancer patients with distant lymph node metastases (DLNM) compared to those with ipsilateral supraclavicular lymph node metastases (ISLM) and other distant metastases (stage IV cases).
  • Involving a cohort of 2,033 women diagnosed between 2010-2014, it categorizes patients into three groups: ISLM, DLNM, and other distant metastases while excluding those under 18 or over 100 years old.
  • Results indicate that patients with DLNM (64.54% BCSS, 62.67% OS) have comparable survival to those with ISLM, while those with other distant metastases show significantly worse survival rates (41
