Inflammatory cytokines and oral cancer risk: an integrated study combining two-sample Mendelian randomization with experimental validation.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the causal relationship between inflammatory cytokines and oral cavity cancer risk using Mendelian randomization analysis and experimental validation.

Methods: Two-sample Mendelian randomization was conducted using summary-level genome-wide association study data on 41 inflammatory cytokines and oral cavity cancer risk in Europeans. Single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with cytokines (p < 5 × 10-6) and oral cancer were selected as instrumental variables, excluding those in linkage disequilibrium.

Prevalence and risk factors of high-risk sexual behavior among elderly men with HIV infection in Chongqing, China.

The increasing use of antiviral drugs, combined with an aging population, has resulted in a growing number of older adults living with HIV. Unfortunately, high-risk sexual behavior among older individuals with HIV has led to HIV retransmission. Methods: An investigation was conducted on 6,333 hepatitis C cases who were reported in the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention in 17 districts of Chongqing, China from 2004 to 2021.

Enhanced Acetone-Sensing Performance of a Bilayer Structure Gas Sensor Composed of a ZnO Nanorod Top Layer and a ZnFeO Nanoparticle Decorated ZnO Nanorod Bottom Layer.

In this study, we report a high-performance acetone gas sensor utilizing a bilayer structure composed of a ZnO nanorod top layer and a ZnFeO nanoparticle-decorated ZnO nanorod bottom layer. ZnO nanorods were synthesized via a water-bath method, after which the ZnFeO nanoparticle-decorated ZnO nanorods were prepared using a simple immersion and calcination method. SEM and TEM revealed the porous morphology of the samples and the formation of ZnO-ZnFeO heterojunctions.

The application of basic SMAS rhytidectomy and comprehensive SMAS rhytidectomy.

Rhytidectomy has made great progress in the past 50 years, especially after the proposition of the concept of superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS). Our previous research had classified SMAS rhytidectomy into basic SMAS rhytidectomy (B-SMAS) and comprehensive SMAS rhytidectomy (C-SMAS) according to whether the treatment of SMAS aponeurosis is combined with retaining ligament, fat pad, mimetic muscles, etc. The purpose of this paper is to compare the outcomes of the 2 methods.

GPX8 as a Novel Prognostic Factor and Potential Therapeutic Target in Primary Glioma.

One of the most prevalent malignant primary brain tumors is primary glioma. Although glutathione peroxidase 8 (GPX8) is intimately associated with carcinogenesis, its function in primary gliomas has not yet been thoroughly understood. Here, we leveraged Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA), The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), and Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) database to investigate the association between GPX8 and overall survival (OS) of patients with primary gliomas, and our results showed that GPX8 expression was negatively correlated with OS.
