Background: Continuous perinatal health insurance coverage is a policy intervention that may help reduce severe maternal morbidity (SMM) and racial and ethnic disparities in SMM in the United States. The Affordable Care Act Dependent Coverage Provision (DCP) allowed young adults to remain on their parent's private health insurance plan until their 26 birthday but its effectiveness in reducing SMM has not been evaluated.
Objective: To assess the association of the DCP with SMM during delivery hospitalization.
Objective: To investigate the anticancer activity of curzerene in colorectal cancer (CRC) in vitro and in vivo models.
Methods: HT29 and HCT8 cells were treated with different concentrations of curzerene (0, 20, 40, and 60 µg/mL) for 24 h. Cell viability was assessed using cell counting kit 8 assay, and cell proliferation was detected by colony-formation, then apoptosis rate was assessed by flow cytometry analysis.
Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common malignant tumor that endangers the life and health of middle-aged and elderly men.
Purpose: To evaluate the significance of radiomic features from intralesional and perilesional regions in bi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for diagnosing PCa.
Material And Methods: A total of 211 patients with suspected PCa who accepted prostate MRI scans were enrolled in this study.
Hemophilia A, caused by a deficiency in factor VIII (F8), is a promising target for gene therapy. This study aims to enhance the efficacy of adeno-associated virus serotype 8 (AAV8) vectors, specifically those encoding B-domain-deleted F8 (BDDF8), to treat the condition. We focused on improving therapeutic outcomes by strategically deleting amino acids at the furin cleavage site (RHQR), a modification that is crucial for increasing F8 expression and reducing capsid stress during vector packaging.

Studies have shown that variants in the A4GALT gene contribute to the p phenotype. Here, we report two novel compound heterozygous variants in the A4GALT gene in a Chinese woman with p phenotype and recurrent pregnancy loss.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is a 30-amino acid intestinal insulin-stimulating factor, which is mainly secreted by L cells in the distal ileum and colon. It has various physiological functions, such as promoting insulin secretion and synthesis, stimulating β-cell proliferation, inducing islet regeneration, inhibiting β-cell apoptosis and glucagon release, delaying gastric emptying and controlling appetite, etc. It plays a role through a specific GLP-1 receptor (GLP-1R) distributed in many organs or tissues and participates in the regulation of glucose homeostasis in the body.

Despite advances in understanding, the precise pathophysiology driving RSA remains unclear. Angelica sinensis, a traditional herbal remedy, is frequently used as an adjunctive treatment for miscarriage.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTitania (TiO) is one of promising photo catalysts for its high ability to resistant photo corrosion and environmental friendliness, but its photocatalytic activity is too low to be used in industry. To find an approach to solve this problem, graphene oxide (GO), tungsten trioxide (WO) and TiO composite with hollow mesoporous structure was prepared by a two-step spray drying method. The composite was used as raw material to constitute a membrane onto ITO glass to form a membrane photo-anode.

Subjects/methods: This multi-center study included newly diagnosed NHL patients. Nutritional status and chemotherapy-related toxic effects were assessed over the first five chemotherapy sessions, with follow-ups conducted every 3 months.
Background: Endoscopic gallbladder-preserving cholecystolithotomy (EGPC) has become an alternative option for treating cholecystolithiasis. However, developing a new method of EGPC in which the gallbladder wall is not damaged remains a challenge. This study introduced a new EGPC method called endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) combined with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), which preserves the integrity of the gallbladder wall in the treatment of cholecystolithiasis complicated with choledocholithiasis.

Few studies, however, have examined the prevalence of depression in community-dwelling older adults in the United States.
Methods: Baseline data from the Longitudinal Research on Aging Drivers study were analyzed to examine the prevalence and correlates of depression in a multisite sample of community-dwelling adults aged 65-79 years who were enrolled and assessed between July 2015 and March 2017.
Background: Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a chronic liver disease characterized by immune-mediated liver inflammation. Despite its global prevalence, the pathogenesis of AIH remains poorly understood, and there is a lack of specific biomarkers and targeted treatments. This study aimed to investigate the role of hsa_circ_0109623, hsa-miR-146b-3p, and Sortilin 1 (SORT1) in AIH and their potential as therapeutic targets.

Methods: A total of 8365 people from CHNS a cross-sectional survey in 2009 were finally included. The biomarker data, including major cardiovascular biomarkers and important nutrition biomarkers were collected.
Background: Overdose mortality increased substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is unclear to what extent the COVID-19 mortality had contributed to this increase at the neighborhood level.
Methods: This was an ecological study based on New York City United Hospital Fund (NYC UHF) neighborhood-level data from 2019 to 2021, split into two time-windows: pre-COVID (2019) and during-COVID (2020 and 2021). Linear regression models were used to estimate the effect of cumulative COVID-19 mortality on the increase in drug overdose mortality from the pre-COVD to during-COVID periods at the neighborhood level, with and without adjusting for neighborhood characteristics.
Introduction: To assess the association of race and ethnicity with self-reported personal protective equipment shortages during the COVID-19 pandemic among healthcare workers in New York.
Methods: The COVID-19 Healthcare Personnel Study of New York was a prospective cohort study of HCWs with baseline data collected in April 2020 and follow-up data collected in February 2021. Multivariable logistic regression modeling was used to estimate the adjusted OR and 95% CIs of personal protective equipment shortages associated with race and ethnic minority status.

Microplastics (MPs) have been detected in placenta and amniotic fluid, but there is no research on whether MPs exist in the other two fetal appendages: fetal membrane and umbilical cord. Additionally, the existence of MPs in umbilical vein blood remains unexplored. Furthermore, it is unclear whether MPs in maternal blood are associated with those in umbilical vein blood and fetal appendages.

At present, most of the research studies are focusing on the normal electrochemical properties of LLOs, while safety issues of the cells are neglected. To address this problem, this article systematically investigates the thermal runaway (TR) process of the pouch cell based on LLOs and elucidates how different activation degrees influence the thermal stability of the cathode material and cell, through various thermal analysis methods.

However, approximately 50 % of lakes undergo periodic freezing, and there is limited research on the factors influencing the CO cycle and ice formation in freshwater lakes located in middle- and high-latitude plateaus during ice-covered periods. Using high-frequency meteorological-flux data collected over six consecutive months during the 2018-2019 freezing period of Lake Wuliangsuhai, this study explored the diurnal variation, daily accumulation, and monthly accumulation of the CO cycle and its influencing mechanisms at a half-hour scale.
