Introduction: The application of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers is an important factors affecting the quality of rice, and different nitrogen-efficient rice varieties show significant differences in their response to nitrogen and phosphorus application.

Methods: In this experiment, a low-nitrogen-high efficiency variety (Deyou 4727) and a high-nitrogen-high efficiency variety (Jingyou 781) were selected, and the changes in rice quality and differences in starch structure under nitrogen-phosphorus interaction treatments were determined.

Results: Appearance, flavor, starch content and thermodynamic properties, endosperm cell arrangement, and starch granule morphology and size were significantly influenced by variety, nitrogen-phosphorus interactions, and their interaction effects.

Panicle-type structure is an important factor affecting rice yield, and an excellent panicle type has become a key indicator in rice breeding. In this study, the rice variety R766, which has an open panicle type, was obtained through natural mutation and hybrid selection. Through analyzing differences in panicle structure, panicle yield, and chemical composition between open panicle rice R766 and conventional panicle rice R2928, we found that the angles of the middle and lower branches in R766 were 186.

We report an electrochemical device for portable on-site detection of gaseous CHI based on PVIm-F for the first time. This study combines quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and microfluidics to introduce MONITOR, a portable field detection system for multiple pathogens causing influenza-like illness. MONITOR can be rapidly deployed to enable simultaneous sample-in-result-out detection of eight common influenza-like illness (ILI) pathogens with heightened sensitivity and specificity. The metastasis of cancer cells is the main cause of death in patients with gastric cancer (GC). In this work, we propose an efficient approach to controlling the directional excitation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) by dynamically modulating the real-part perturbation in a passive parity-time symmetric metasurface. This non-Hermitian system can experience two exceptional points that can induce two unidirectional excitation states of SPPs along opposite directions. Empowered by its superior modulation depth, the energy ratio and energy intensities of two excited SPP states can be effectively manipulated by this non-Hermitian metasurface.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are key regulators during the development of breast cancer (BC) and thus may be viable treatment targets. In this study, we found that the expression of the long intergenic non-coding RNA 01016 (LINC01016) was significantly higher in BC tissue samples with positive lymph node metastasis. LINC01016, which is activated by the transcription factor ETS-1, contributes to the overt promotion of cell proliferation activity, enhanced cell migratory ability, S phase cell cycle arrest, and decreased apoptosis rate.

A rapid and accurate COVID-19 diagnosis is a prerequisite for blocking the source of infection as soon as possible and taking the appropriate medical action. Herein, we developed GeneClick, a device for nucleic acid self-testing of SARS-CoV-2, consisting of three modules: a sampling kit, a microfluidic chip-based disposable cartridge, and an amplification reader. In addition, we evaluated the clinical performance of GeneClick using 2162 nasal swabs collected at three medical institutions, using three commercial RT-qPCR kits and an antigen self-test as references.
