Far-upstream element (FUSE)-binding protein 2 (FBP2) was a member of single-stranded DNA-binding protein family; it played an important role in regulating transcription and post-transcription and is involved in the regulation of C-MYC gene expression in liver tumors. However, the role of FBP2 in breast cancer and its mechanism has not been studied yet. Here, we discovered that FBP2 was up-regulated in breast cancer tissues and breast cancer cell lines.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the role of FoxO4 in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which is crucial for tumor invasion and metastasis in non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLCs).
  • Researchers evaluated the expression levels of FoxO4, E-cadherin, and vimentin in 150 NSCLC cases using immunohistochemistry and Western blotting, finding low FoxO4 expression compared to normal lung tissues.
  • The findings indicate that low FoxO4 levels are associated with poor tumor differentiation and increased metastasis, suggesting FoxO4 could be a potential therapeutic target for NSCLC.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in the peripheral blood could serve as a surrogate marker for the diagnosis of cancer metastasis and for therapeutic evaluation. However, the separation and characterization of CTCs is technically challenging owing to the extremely low number of CTCs present. Here we developed a size-based and high-throughput microfluidic chip, which exploits filtration microchannels to isolate the relatively larger CTCs from the rest of the blood constituents.
