We investigate the roles of liquidity and delay in financial markets through our proposed optimal forecasting model. The efficiency and liquidity of the financial market are examined using stochastic models that incorporate information delay. Based on machine learning, we estimate the in-sample and out-of-sample forecasting price performances of the six proposed methods using the likelihood function and Bayesian methods, and the out-of-sample prediction performance is compared with the benchmark model ARIMA-GARCH.

The final instar larva of the genus Archineura Kirby, 1894 is described for the first time, based on a specimen of the Chinese endemic species Archineura incarnata (Karsch, 1892) collected from Mt. Nankunshan, Guangdong Province, China. The larva is distinguished by several characters, including its moderately slender build combined with the distinctive extremely long legs, long, narrow, uniquely spined outer caudal appendages, a mask strongly expanded anteriorly with a relatively small median cleft, and robust spines at the apex of the labial palp.

Compared with the well-developed C-C and C-N axial chirality, the asymmetric synthesis of N-N axial chirality remains elusive and challenging. Herein we report the first atroposelective -acylation reaction of quinazolinone type benzamides with cinnamic anhydrides for the direct catalytic synthesis of optically active atropisomeric quinazolinone derivatives. This reaction features mild conditions and a broad substrate scope and produces N-N axially chiral compounds with high yields and very good enantioselectivities.

In this study, we aimed to investigate the changes of lymphocyte subsets (CD3 , CD4 , CD8 ) and inflammatory factors (interleukin-6 [IL-6], hypersensitive C-reactive protein [HS-CRP], and procalcitonin [PCT]) of alveolar lavage fluid in patients with severe corona virus-2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia and their clinical impact on the assessment of disease severity and prognosis. Twenty-four patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Ezhou Central Hospital from February 1 to March 22, 2020. According to the 28-day prognosis, they were assigned to a death group and a survival group.

A BINOL-based chiral phosphoric acid was employed as an efficient catalyst in enantioselective cycloaddition of ortho-hydroxyphenyl-substituted para-quinone methides and enamides, which gave rise to acetamido-substituted tetrahydroxanthenes with three adjacent stereogenic centers in high yields (up to 99%) and excellent stereoselectivities (up to >99:1 diastereomeric ratio and up to 98% ee).

A novel biscinchona alkaloid-catalyzed highly enantioselective desymmetrization reaction of bisphenol compounds with achiral Morita-Baylis-Hillman carbonate agents was developed. Through the asymmetric allylic alkylation strategy, a broad range of optically active P-stereogenic phosphine oxides were generated with excellent to good yields (up to 99%) and high enantioselectivities (up to 98.5 : 1.

Anacardic acid, which is abundant in nutshell of Anacardium occidentale, has multiple pharmacological activities. In this study, we examined the therapeutic potential of anacardic acid in treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We explored the effects of anacardic acid on collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in mice and on the proliferation and invasion of RA fibroblast-like synoviocytes (RA-FLSs).

N-tert-Butyl sulfinyl squaramides were used for chiral discrimination of α-hydroxyphosphonates using P NMR. A free energy relationship study indicates that both steric and the electronic effects influence the chiral recognition of the donors.

A series of novel N-tert-butyl sulfinyl squaramide receptors have been designed and synthesized. Their interactions with a range of inorganic anions were studied in solution by H NMR spectroscopy. This new type of squaramide displayed better anion-binding abilities over conventional diphenyl squaramides.

We propose efficient schemes of direct concurrence measurement for two-qubit spin and photon-polarization entangled states via the interaction between single-photon pulses and nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond embedded in optical microcavities. For different entangled-state types, diversified quantum devices and operations are designed accordingly. The initial unknown entangled states are possessed by two spatially separated participants, and nonlocal spin (polarization) entanglement can be measured with the aid of detection probabilities of photon (NV center) states.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess if combining neutrophil CD64 (nCD64) with procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and white blood cell count (WBC) improves the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.
  • Serum levels of nCD64, PCT, CRP, and WBC were significantly higher in babies with sepsis, with the best diagnostic sensitivity found when nCD64 and PCT were used together, reaching 90.9%.
  • The findings suggest that nCD64 and PCT are more effective for early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis than CRP, and utilizing optimal cut-off values can further enhance sensitivity in detecting the condition.

The influence of albumin towards the metabolism behavior of fenoprofen enantiomers and relevant drug-drug interaction was investigated in the present study. The metabolic behavior of fenoprofen enantiomers was compared in a phase II metabolic incubation system with and without bovine serum albumin (BSA). BSA supplement increased the binding affinity parameter (Km) of (R)-fenoprofen towards human liver microsomes (HLMs) from 148.

Background: Nowadays, more and more herbal drugs of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) rely on cultivation rather than natural resources because of overexploitation, and the study on quality of cultivated herbal medicines has become a hotspot in the research field of ecology of TCM resources. Though some of molecular biology techniques could improve the contents of secondary metabolites, those chemical compositions may differ from what we require from natural products, resulting in different treatment efficacy.

Objective: To explore ways and means of improving TCM quality by means of regulating secondary metabolism from the perspective of natural physiological ecology.

Background: Quadratus femoris pedicled bone grafting has yielded satisfactory long-term clinical outcome for osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) in pre-collapse ONFH without extensive lesion. However, for pre-collapse ONFH with extensive necrotic area, it is still challenging to preserve the femoral head. The current study aimed to introduce a new technique of deliquesce strut with titanium mesh containing bone grafting pedicled with the femoral quadratus and to evaluate its short-term outcomes.
