Many toxins are life-threatening to both animals and humans. However, specific antidotes are not available for most of those toxins. The molecular mechanisms underlying the toxicology of well-known toxins are not yet fully characterized.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists studied rats with Parkinson's disease to see if a substance called nardosinone could help them feel better.
  • They found out that nardosinone works on a specific gene called slc38a2 and affects certain pathways in the brain.
  • This means nardosinone could be a possible new way to treat Parkinson's disease by helping these important brain signals work better.

Under the guidance of the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) theory of "Zangfu-organs of spleen and stomach" and the modern theory of "microbiota-gut-brain axis", this study explored the effects of Nardostachys jatamansi on the gut microbiota of rats with Parkinson's disease(PD). The 40 SD rats were randomly divided into the control group, PD model group, levodopa group, and Nardostachys jatamansi ethanol extract group. The PD model was established by subcutaneous injection of rotenone in the neck and back area.

Zhi zhu xiang (ZZX) is the root and rhizome of Jones ex Roxb. Recent studies have shown that ZZX can exert antianxiety, antidepressant, and sedative effects. Because post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is similar to depression and anxiety in terms of its etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations, it is possible that ZZX may also be useful for the prevention and treatment of PTSD.

This article aims to establish the fingerprints, determine the hemostatic pharmacodynamic indicators, and explore the spectrum-effect relationship of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma in 12 different specifications. Firstly, HPLC and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS) were employed to establish the fingerprints of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma. The rat plasma recalcification experiment and the rat gastric bleeding experiment were conducted to determine the pharmacodynamic indicators, including plasma recalcification time(PRT), thrombin time(TT), prothrombin time(PT), and activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT).

This paper aims to investigate the active components and mechanism of Valerianae Jatamansi Rhizoma et Radix against post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) based on network pharmacology and molecular docking. The main components and targets of Valerianae Jatamansi Rhizoma et Radix were obtained by literature mining methods, SwissTargetPrediction, BATMAN and ETCM database. PTSD-related genes were collected from DrugBank, TTD and CTD databases.

The underlying cause of treatment failure in many cancer patients is intrinsic and acquired resistance to chemotherapy. Recently, histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors have developed into a promising cancer treatment. However, resistance mechanism induced by HDAC inhibitors remains largely unknown.

The effect of 36 aromatic compounds on the luminol-dimethylsulfoxide-OH(-) chemiluminescence (CL) was systematically studied. It was found that dihydroxybenzenes, and ortho- and para-substituted aminophenols and phenylenediamines inhibited the CL and phenols with three or more than three hydroxyls except phloroglucin tended to enhance the CL. The CL inhibition and enhancement was proposed to be dependent on whether superoxide anion radical (O(2)(-)) was competitively consumed by compounds in the CL system.

A novel method was developed for the determination of quinolone (QN) residues such as ofloxacin, norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin and lomefloxacin by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with chemiluminescence (CL) detection. The procedure was based on the chemiluminescent enhancement by QNs of the Ce(SO(4))(2)-Ru(bpy)(3)(2+)-HNO(3) system. The separation was carried out with an isocratic elution using the mobile phase of 3:15:82 (v/v/v) acetonitrile-methanol-ammonium acetate buffer (containing 7.

A novel flow-injection method with chemiluminescence detection was developed for the determination of streptomycin residues in milk, based on the enhancement by streptomycin of the luminol-potassium periodate-Mn(2+) chemiluminescence system. The assay allowed analysis of streptomycin residues in whole milk samples ( approximately 3.5% fat) after sample work-up procedures.

A novel method was developed for the simultaneous determination of tetracycline antibiotic (TCA) residues such as oxytetracycline (OTC), tetracycline (TC), and metacycline (MTC) by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with chemiluminescence (CL) detection. The procedure was based on the chemiluminescent enhancement by TCAs of the potassium permanganate-sodium sulfite-beta-cyclodextrin system in a phosphoric acid medium. The separation was carried out with an isocratic elution using a mixture of acetonitrile and 0.

Tetracyclines (TCs) were found to strongly inhibit the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) from the Ru(bpy)3(2+)-tripropylamine system when a working Pt electrode was maintained at 1.05 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) in pH 8.
