Alkali-activated concrete (AAC), produced from industrial by-products like fly ash and slag, offers a promising alternative to traditional Portland cement concrete by significantly reducing carbon emissions. Yet, the inherent variability in AAC formulations presents a challenge for accurately predicting its compressive strength using conventional approaches. To address this, we leverage machine learning (ML) techniques, which enable more precise strength predictions based on a combination of material properties and cement mix design parameters.

Vehicle emission has been the major source of air pollution in urban areas in the past two decades. This article proposes an artificial neural network model for identifying the taxi gross emitters based on the remote sensing data. After carrying out the field test in Guangzhou and analyzing various factors from the emission data, the artificial neural network modeling was proved to be an advisable method of identifying the gross emitters.

As being an effective real-time method of monitoring vehicle emissions on-road, a remote sensing system based on the tunable diode laser (TDL) technology was presented, and the key technologies were discussed. A field test in Guangzhou (Guangdong, China) was performed and was found that the factors, such as slope, instantaneous speed and acceleration, had significant influence on the detectable rate of the system. Based on the results, the proposal choice of testing site was presented.

[reaction: see text] Stereospecific cyclopropanation of alkenylboronic esters of pinacol followed by in situ treatment with excess KHF(2) afforded the corresponding potassium cyclopropyl trifluoroborates in high yields, which then underwent Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions with aryl bromides to give cyclopropyl-substituted arenes in good yields with retention of configuration. This promises to be a useful method for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure cyclopropanes.
