The normal estrus in weaned primiparous sows has a great impact on pig production and abnormal estrus is the main reason for the elimination of primiparous sows. In this study, we studied the long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) in the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis of anestrous and estrous primiparous sows. These long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) were screened and compared through RNA-seq analysis.

Objective: To detect changes of Foxp3 expression in the decidua in patients with preeclampsia and investigate the correlation of Foxp3-924 (rs2232365) polymorphisms with preeclampsia.

Methods: From October 2011 to December 2012, 252 normal pregnant women and 156 preeclampsia patients of Han nationality from the same geographic region were tested for Foxp3-924 genotypes by polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primer (PCR-SSP). Sixty-eight of the patients with preeclampsia (33 with mild and 35 with severe preeclampsia) and 30 of the normal pregnant women were also examined for Foxp3 expression in the decidua using immunohistochemical method.

Objective: To establish a model of smooth muscle cells differentiated from bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSC-SMCs) in vitro and explore the relationship between scavenger receptors A (SR-A) and caveolin-1.

Methods: BMSCs were isolated from the femoral bone of SD rats by adherent culture. After treatment of the BMSC-SMCs with 80 mg/L ox-LDL for 72 h, Western blotting was performed to detect the expression of scavenger receptor SR-A, cell cholesterol transport protein ATP-binding cassette transporter Al (ABCA1) and caveolin-1.

Objective: To establish the model of bone mesenchymal stem cell-derived smooth muscle cells (BMSC-SMCs) and investigate the role of BMSC-SMCs in the development and progression of artherosclerosis.

Methods: BMSCs were isolated from the femoral bone of SD rats by adherent tissue culture method, and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) were obtained from the thoracic aorta. The differentiation of BMSCs into BMSC-SMCs was induced in the conditioned medium.

Article Synopsis
  • The study is about how a special gene called hEndo can affect skin melanoma cells, which are a type of skin cancer.
  • Researchers put the hEndo gene into these cancer cells and checked if it worked by using tests in the lab and in mice.
  • They found that the hEndo gene made the cancer cells grow slower and helped stop the growth of blood vessels in other cells, showing that it could be a way to treat melanoma.

A liquid crystal polarized light microscope (LC PolScope) was used to examine spindle dynamics in living mouse oocytes. Immature oocytes were cultured for 0-48 h and spindles were imaged with the PolScope at various time points of culture. Oocytes at metaphase I (M-I) and metaphase II (M-II) were also exposed to shifts of temperature from 25 to 41 degrees C to examine the effects of fluctuations of temperature on spindle dynamics.
