The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (Jing-Jin-Ji) Region is home to the most acute economic, resource, and environmental conflicts in the Bohai Sea region, and the rivers entering the sea carry abundant total nitrogen (TN) input into the Bohai Bay, which is the main land-based input causing eutrophication of the bay. The Haihe River Basin in the Jing-Jin-Ji Region was divided into 112 (2018-2019) and 187 (2020-2022) control units, and the spatial and temporal variations in TN concentration in the surface water of the Haihe River Basin in the Jing-Jin-Ji Region were systematically analyzed from 2018 to 2022 by combining the Euclidean distance analysis method and the K-means clustering analysis method. The results showed that the annual average concentration of TN in the region showed a trend of decreasing (2018-2020) and then increasing (2021-2022), in which the concentration of TN increased significantly from June 2021 to June 2022.

Based on the monitoring data of various pollutants at important water system points in the Yangtze River Basin from 2017 to 2020, research on the flux change law of the main and tributary water systems in the Yangtze River Basin was carried out at the spatiotemporal scale, and the spatial change response, interannual change trend, and flux correlation analysis were analyzed from the aspects of water quantity, quality, and flux so as to reveal the spatial-temporal contribution characteristics of pollutant flux in the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Basin. The results showed that over the past four years, the concentration of major pollutants in the Yangtze River Basin showed an overall downward trend. The concentration of total phosphorus (TP) and ammonia (NH-N) decreased significantly.

Cadmium (Cd) has received considerable attention because of its association with various human health problems. The behavior of adsorption-desorption of Cd at contaminated levels in two variable charge soils were investigated. Eleven red soils varying in land use and fertility status were used to examine the effect of land use on microbial biomass -C, -N and -P. Microbial biomass-C in the red soils ranged from about 68 mg C/kg to 225 mg C/kg, which is generally lower than that reported from other types of soil, probably because of low organic matter and high acidity in the red soils. Land use had considerable effects on the amounts of soil C(mic).
