Introduction: Stroke patients may experience reduced socialization and feelings of isolation due to post-stroke sequelae such as impaired motor function and cognitive deficits. Factors associated with loneliness need to be explored to develop targeted interventions. However, little is known about the impact of self-perceived burden and illness stigma on loneliness in this population.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOsteoarthritis (OA) is a common chronic degenerative disease of articular cartilage in middle-aged and older individuals, which can result in the joint pain and dysfunction, and even cause the joint deformity or disability. With the enhancing process of global aging, OA has gradually become a major public health problem worldwide. Explaining pathogenesis of OA is critical for the development of new preventive and therapeutic interventions.

Novel bispherical augments were designed to fill acetabular bone loss and facilitate restoration of hip center of rotation (HCOR). Current study aims to compare the outcomes of bispherical augments and tantalum augments.

The precise pointing of the transmitted laser pulse is critical for improving the horizontal accuracy of the footprint on the ground.

The researches on chlamydia in recent years show that chlamydia bacteriophage may be a potential and effective means to solve the clinical infection of chlamydia trachomatis (Ct). We investigated the biological effect of chlamydiaphage phiCPG1 capsid protein Vp1 on Ct both in McCoy cells and genital tract of mice. Different concentrations of Vp1 were co-incubated with Ct E serotype strain in McCoy cells.

However, little is known about the mechanisms by which spiders respond to heavy metals at the molecular level. In the present study, high-throughput transcriptome sequencing was employed to characterize the de novo transcriptome of the spiders and to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) after cadmium exposure.

Third-instar spiderlings and adult spiders were exposed to sublethal concentrations of CdCl2 solution in their drinking water. The Cd content in P.

The incidence of gastric cancer is higher in the Tibetan ethnic group compared to that in the Han ethnic group in Qinghai. This study was conducted to determine the clinical characteristics of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations and copy numbers among Tibetans with gastric cancer residing at high altitudes and investigate the association between adaptations to hypoxic conditions and oncogenesis.

Methods: Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood of 210, 205, and 202 healthy volunteers and from 155, 158, and 197 gastric cancer patients from the Tibet, Hui, and Han populations, respectively. Polymorphisms in IL-1B and IL-1RN were analyzed by denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography.

Sonoluminescence is a weak emission of light when liquid was irradiated by ultrasound. Since the 80 s last century, several researchers began to use this luminescence to chemical analysis, medical detection and environmental monitoring. This paper gives a review on the advancement of this area, including sonoluminescence in cancer detection, as a new atomic emission spectroscopy in elements analysis and environmental monitoring.
