To evaluate the association of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients across different subgroups, we searched randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing SGLT2i with the control groups among T2DM patients and including DKA as a safety outcome. Pooled risk ratios (RRs) were calculated using random or fixed-effects models, as appropriate. An inverse-variance-weighted Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed to estimate the genetic correlation.

However, the toxicity of ATO has prevented many patients from receiving this highly beneficial treatment. The clinical features, mechanisms, and preventive measures for ATO hepatotoxicity, as well as potential curative strategies, are discussed in this review.

Background: Right ventricular (RV) maladaptive remodeling has been demonstrated to be more severe in males than in females under similar afterload, with androgen potentially involved. However, the mechanism remains unknown.
Methods: We performed RV proteomics and metabolomics in male and castrated rats with pulmonary artery banding (PAB) or sham surgery.
Background: Immunotherapy plays an important role in the treatment of bladder cancer (BLCA), with outcomes influenced by the tumor microenvironment (TME). Angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer progression, shapes the TME and impacts immunotherapy efficacy. However, its specific role in BLCA remains underexplored.

Methods: In vivo, mice cornea were injured by NaOH, and then treated with cyclopamine, clodronate liposomes (CLO-LPS), and vehicle of cyclopamine separately by subconjunctival injections. Clinical features were observed and pathological characteristics were examined.
Understanding the adaptation of archaea to hypoxia is essential for deciphering the functions and mechanisms of microbes when suffering environmental changes. However, the dynamics and responses of archaea to the sedimentary hypoxia in Bohai Sea are still unclear. In this study, the diversity, composition, and distribution of archaeal community in sediment along an inshore-offshore transect across the oxygen-depleted area in the Bohai Sea were investigated in June, July, and August of 2021 by employing high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene.

Here, a novel "Three-in-One" Cu-based metal-organic framework nanozyme with peroxidase-like (POD-like) activity has been successfully developed, aiming to promote CRC cell death by dual targeting of oxidative stress and copper ion homeostasis, which could promote CRC cell death via apoptosis and cuproptosis, and facilitate hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) degradation, leading to the reversal of chemoresistance in tumor therapy. These nanozymes, composed of copper and 2-propylimidazole (Cu-PrIm), feature a distorted Cu-N4 catalytic active center that mimics natural enzyme structures consisting of copper and histidine residues, endowing them with enzyme-like activities.

In this study, the catalytic potential of two representative covalent organic frameworks (COFs), COF-366 and Pc-PBBA COF, was investigated in the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Transition metal atoms (Fe or Co) were incorporated into the center of porphyrin or phthalocyanine rings to form Fe(Co)-N-C single-atom catalysts, which can catalyze the ORR with overpotentials between 0.49 V and 0.

A smart dendritic cell (DC)-derived whole cell cytokine (DWC) nano-regulator of TCPs was developed for tumor cytokine-immunotherapy. The DWCs were purified from activated DC-cultured media and applied as a nano-dosage form. It was found that TCPs could remodel extracellular matrices the elimination of fibronectin and type I collagen (Col-I) in tumor tissues, as well as the inhibition of α-SMA expression in cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs).

However, uncovering its underlying mechanism for promoting GBM progression is still a challenging work. In this study, we found that serine protease inhibitor family E member 1 (SERPINE1) was a potential downstream gene of GDNF.

The aim of this study was to investigate the causal relationship between PCa and folic acid supplementation, as well as dietary folate equivalents, using Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.
Methods: The Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) data of folic acid supplementation and dietary folate equivalents were selected from UK Biobank.
Brain abscess is a severe infection characterized by the accumulation of pus within the brain parenchyma. Accurate identification of the causative pathogens is crucial for effective treatment and improved patient outcomes. This 10-year retrospective, single-center study aimed to compare the detection performance of conventional culture methods and metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in brain abscess.

The retina is critical for visual signal processing, which primarily utilizes aerobic glycolysis to produce lactate as a metabolic end product. Lactate facilitates lysine lactylation (Kla), a posttranslational modification essential for transcriptional regulation.

Method: A total of 187 adults with myopia were recruited for this study. This study was conducted in two stages.
Individuals with high social anxiety show a more considerable attentional bias toward self-relevant information and outwardly threatening stimuli than do those with low social anxiety. Some studies have investigated the attentional bias between self-relevant information and external social cues in people with high social anxiety but have not reached consistent conclusions. This study used a modified dot-probe task and collected temporal and electroencephalogram responses to three self-other face pairs among 15 people with high social anxiety and 20 people with low social anxiety.

Within the scope of this research, a series of tests was conducted using Tage tuff to assess the deformation behavior and crack extension of rock under direct tension. The axial, lateral, and shear strain fields as well as crack propagation, localized deformation behavior, and failure mode of the rocks were analyzed using three-dimensional digital image correlation method.
