The loading of photocatalysts on hydrogels can significantly reduce the loss of catalysts and effectively prevent secondary contamination, thus demonstrating great application potential and advantages in the field of wastewater treatment, especially in the removal of dyes. Herein, the semiconductor TiO was successfully loaded into a polyacrylic acid/chitosan (PAA/CS) double-network (DN) hydrogel, which exhibited superior removal of dyes in wastewater such as MG, MB, MV, and RhB. The dye degradation process followed first-order kinetics, and the first-order rate constants for dye degradation were further calculated under UV light irradiation.

Superposed constellation technology has received increasing attention due to its robustness to the correlation of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels in visible-light communication (VLC) systems. In this study, a novel superposed three-dimensional 32-quadrature amplitude modulation (3D-32QAM) constellation scheme combined with probabilistic shaping is proposed for MIMO VLC systems. Tetrahedron-shaped 3D-4QAM and cube-shaped 3D-8QAM signals are transmitted from two separate LEDs, which are superposed at the receiver to obtain a cross-shaped 32QAM signal.

With the development of brain-computer interface industry, large amounts of related applications have entered people's vision. BCI applications based on steady-state visual evoked potentials (SSVEP) are widely used because they do not require pre-training and have high information transmission rates. However, in the actual use of SSVEP stimulus paradigm, the subjects will produce visual fatigue with the use, and fatigue will affect the transmission efficiency.

Cervical cancer, often driven by high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections such as HPV16 or HPV18, remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. HPV16, found in about 90% of cervical cancer patients, harbors key oncogenic related genes (E6, E7, E2, E5) and an upstream regulatory region (URR) that contribute to cancer progression. This study introduces a novel approach using a recombinant oncolytic herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) named SONC103, armed with a CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing system.

The therapeutic potential of commensal microbes and their metabolites is promising in the functional cure of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, which is defined as hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) loss. Here, using both specific-pathogen-free and germ-free mice, we report that probiotics significantly promote the decline of HBsAg and inhibit HBV replication by enhancing intestinal homeostasis and provoking intrahepatic interferon (IFN)-γCD4 T cell immune response. Depletion of CD4 T cells or blockage of IFN-γ abolishes probiotics-mediated HBV inhibition.

Calcium peroxide (CaO) is commonly used as a hydrogen peroxide (HO) donor to eliminate bacterial infections. However, the rapid dissociation of CaO and the explosive release of HO have limited the development of CaO in the antibacterial field. Therefore, a series of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) functionalized bacteria-triggered smart hydrogels (CSA-H) that integrate sustained release of nanoparticles and localized chemodynamic sterilization were constructed.

Field observations of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in shelf seas presented abnormal phenomena such as high-concentration patches in offshore areas and different vertical profiles of POPs at the same location. We assumed that these phenomena were associated with the presence of bottom cold water mass (BCWM) in shelf seas and used a hydrodynamic-ecosystem-POP coupled model to confirm this hypothesis. Based on model results, with the formation of BCWM during summer, POPs accumulated inside BCWM due to their transport across the thermocline by the sorption to sinking particles.

Huntington's disease (HD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor dysfunction and cognitive decline. While retinal abnormalities have been documented in some HD patients and animal models, the nature of these abnormalities-specifically whether they originate in the inner or outer retina-remains unclear, particularly regarding their progression with age. This study investigates the retinal structure and function in HD transgenic mice (R6/1) compared to C57BL/6 J control mice at 2, 4, and 6 months of age, encompassing both pre-symptomatic and symptomatic stages of HD.
