Peptidomics was employed to systematically analyze the characteristic peptides in Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum and its adulterants and establish a method for distinguishing Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum from its adulterants, including the gizzard membranes from ducks, geese, and pigeons. UPLC-Q-Exactive Orbitrap-MS was combined with multivariate statistical analysis to analyze the peptides in Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum and its adulterants. The structures of peptides were identified by pNovo combined with manual recognition of spectra, and synthetic peptide standards were used for validation.

Related studies have shown that ITGB2 mediates mitochondrial glycolytic transformation in cancer-associated fibroblasts and participates in tumor occurrence, metastasis and invasion of cancer cells. Based on these studies, we tried to construct a mitochondrial glycolysis regulatory network and explored its effect on mitochondrial homeostasis and ovarian cancer cells' cancerous characteristics. Our research revealed a distinct increase in the expression of ITGB2 and associated signaling pathway elements (PI3K-AKT-mTOR) in cases of ovarian cancer.

Introduction: To date, an increasing number of studies have revealed that GP73 may have prognostic value in liver cancer. However, most of the studies evaluated serum GP73, and the results regarding the prognostic value of tGP73 in liver cancer are still controversial. Therefore, in this meta-analysis, we aimed to determine whether tGP73 has any prognostic value in patients with HCC.

Somatosensory neurons are highly heterogeneous with distinct types of neural cells responding to specific stimuli. However, the distribution and roles of cell-type-specific long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) in somatosensory neurons remain largely unexplored. Here, by utilizing droplet-based single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) and full-length Smart-seq2, we show that lincRNAs, but not coding mRNAs, are enriched in specific types of mouse somatosensory neurons.

Long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) are crucial regulators in numerous biological processes. However, the functions and mechanisms of mA-modified lincRNAs in neuronal development remain unclear. Here, we report an mA-modified lincRNA, Dppa2 upstream binding RNA (Dubr), abundantly expressed at the early developmental stage of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and cerebral cortex.

Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is one of the familiar malignant tumors in the hematological system. miR-520a-3p is reported to be involved in several cancers' progression. However, miR-520a-3p role in AML remains unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are created from the back-splicing of exons in precursor mRNAs and usually coexist with their linear counterparts.
  • Current methods to specifically knockout circRNAs are limited due to overlapping sequences with linear RNAs.
  • This study introduces base editors (BEs) as a tool to selectively inhibit circRNA production by targeting specific splice sites, allowing for effective depletion of circRNAs for research purposes.

Background: Congenital coronary artery fistula can lead to symptoms of chest tightness, chest pain, or exertional dyspnea, which is a congenital vascular malformation that should not be ignored. Patients who have such malformations are frequently observed with different concurrent abnormal anatomic structures. Collateral circulation may have a positive effect on improving the patients' symptoms.

Single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) profiles gene expression with high resolution. Here, we develop a stepwise computational method-called SCAPTURE to identify, evaluate, and quantify cleavage and polyadenylation sites (PASs) from 3' tag-based scRNA-seq. SCAPTURE detects PASs de novo in single cells with high sensitivity and accuracy, enabling detection of previously unannotated PASs.

Long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) are critical regulators involved in diverse biological processes. However, the roles and related mechanisms of lincRNAs in axon development are largely unknown. Here we report an axon-enriched lincRNA regulating axon elongation, referred to as ALAE.

Squamosa promoter binding protein (SBP)-box genes are plant-specific transcription factors involved in plant growth and development, morphogenesis and biotic and abiotic stress responses. However, these genes have been understudied in pepper, especially with respect to defense responses to infection. is a SBP-box family gene in pepper that was identified in our previous research.

Purpose: Adults with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL) generally benefit from treatment with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)-like regimens, but approximately 40% will relapse after such treatment. We evaluated the value of CpG methylation in predicting relapse for adults with T-LBL treated with ALL-like regimens.

Experimental Design: A total of 549 adults with T-LBL from 27 medical centers were included in the analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed a gene-expression classifier to predict survival in patients with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL), identifying 43 key mRNAs after comparing gene profiles of progressive and progression-free cases.
  • The classifier, based on 11 specific genes, was shown to significantly lower progression-free survival, disease-free survival, and overall survival rates for high-risk patients in a training cohort of 169 individuals.
  • A prognostic nomogram incorporating the classifier and other factors further improved prediction accuracy for treatment outcomes, indicating that patients with higher scores respond better to the BFM treatment protocol.

Powdery mildew (PM), which is mainly caused by , is a serious biotrophic pathogen disease affecting field-grown and greenhouse-grown cucurbit crops worldwide. Because fungicides poorly control PM, the development and cultivation of PM-resistant varieties is critical. A homolog of (), which encodes a key component of the plant disease-associated signal transduction pathway, was previously identified through a transcriptomic analysis of a PM-resistant pumpkin () inbred line infected with PM.

Liver cancer is one of the deadliest cancers in the world. To find effective therapies for this cancer, it is indispensable to identify key genes, which may play critical roles in the incidence of the liver cancer. To identify key genes of the liver cancer with high accuracy, we integrated multiple microarray gene expression data sets to compute common differentially expressed genes, which will result more accurate than those from individual data set.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) from back-splicing of exon(s) have been recently identified to be broadly expressed in eukaryotes, in tissue- and species-specific manners. Although functions of most circRNAs remain elusive, some circRNAs are shown to be functional in gene expression regulation and potentially relate to diseases. Due to their stability, circRNAs can also be used as biomarkers for diagnosis.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a highly infectious pathogen that can cause severe diseases in pigs and result in enormous economic losses in the worldwide swine industry. Previous studies revealed that PEDV exhibits an obvious capacity for modulating interferon (IFN) signaling or expression. The newly discovered type III IFN, which plays a crucial role in antiviral immunity, has strong antiviral activity against PEDV proliferation in IPEC-J2 cells.

Bismuth tellurohalides with Rashba-type spin splitting exhibit unique Fermi surface topology and are developed as promising thermoelectric materials. However, BiTeBr, which belongs to this class of materials, is rarely investigated in terms of the thermoelectric transport properties. In the study, polycrystalline bulk BiTeBr with intensive texture was synthesized via spark plasma sintering (SPS).
