Background Aortic root dilation is an increasingly recognized feature in repaired tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) patients. However, the dilation at the aortic root and ascending aorta in unrepaired TOF is rarely studied. This study aims to confirm whether aortic dilation is a common feature in unrepaired TOF and investigate the factors attributed to aortic dilation.

Background And Purpose: Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is the fourth most common form of pulmonary hypertension (PH), representing a pre-capillary manifestation of the disorder. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the role of balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA) in the treatment of CTEPH.

Methods: Our investigation was conducted using PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science platforms.

BACKGROUND Epidemiological studies have evaluated the associations of CD16 158F>V and CD32 131H>R gene polymorphisms with the risk of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). MATERIAL AND METHODS Published studies on CD16 158F>V and CD32 131H>R polymorphisms with susceptibility to ITP were systematically reviewed until April 1, 2014. The Cochrane Library Database, Medline, CINAHL, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Chinese Biomedical Database (CBM) were used to search for relevant studies and then a meta-analysis was conducted by using Stata 12.

Article Synopsis
  • Genome-wide association studies have linked polymorphisms in the HDAC9 gene to large-vessel stroke, though findings have been controversial.
  • This study examined 262 ischemic stroke patients and 300 matched controls to replicate associations with specific SNPs (rs11984041, rs2389995, rs2240419) of the HDAC9 gene.
  • Results showed that rs11984041 was nonpolymorphic, the G allele of rs2389995 reduced stroke risk, while the T allele of rs2240419 increased it, indicating significant genetic influences on ischemic stroke susceptibility.

Objective: To analyze the relative factors of early-term restenosis after artificially grafting bypasses on chronic ischemia of lower extremities.

Methods: From January 2006 to September 2007, 40 cases suffered from chronic ischemia of lower extremities were treated by single side femoropopliteal bypass were followed up during 6 months after operation. There were 36 male and 4 case female with a mean age of (66 +/- 9) years old.
