A prolific multi-product sesterterpene synthase CbTPS1 is characterized from the medicinal Brassicaceae plant Capsella bursa-pastoris. Twenty different sesterterpenes including 16 undescribed compounds, possessing 10 different mono-/di-/tri-/tetra-/penta-carbocyclic skeletons, including the unique 15-membered macrocyclic and 24(15→14)-abeo-capbuane scaffolds, are isolated and structurally elucidated from engineered Escherichia coli strains expressing CbTPS1. Introducing distinctive functional groups to expand the structural diversity and improve the intrinsic properties of parent molecules has been an essential pursuit in organic chemistry. By using perfluoroalkyl halide (PFAH) as a nontraditional, readily available, ideal 1,2-difluoroalkenyl coupling partner, a defluorinative cyclization reaction of enamides for the construction of fluoroalkenyl oxazoles is first developed. The selective and controllable two-fold cleavage of vicinal C(sp)─F bonds in PFAH not only enables the introduction of a specific 1,2-difluoroalkenyl moiety with ease but also results in the functionalization of two C(sp)─H bonds of enamides without the need for metal catalyst, photocatalyst, oxidant, or light.

The effects of TGase on hardness, water holding capacity (WHC), molecular forces, structural properties, microstructure and rheological behaviors of TGase-induced cowpea protein isolate gel (T-CPIG) and cowpea albumin gel (T-CPAG) were investigated. TGase significantly increased the hardness of gels and the most stable three-dimensional network structures were formed by adding 20 U/g and 28 U/g. Not only the non-network structure proteins of gels and free sulfhydryl groups were fewer but also the β-fold and β-angle relative contents were higher than cowpea protein isolate (CPI) and cowpea albumin (CPA).

An electrochemical reductive bimolecular cycloaddition of 2-arylideneindane-1,3-diones has been reported for the synthesis of spirocyclopentanole indane-1,3-diones bearing five contiguous stereocenters with vicinal tetrasubstituted stereocenters, especially involving a quaternary carbon center, in moderate to good yields and excellent diastereoselectivities. The present protocol features mild reaction conditions, no external chemical redox reagents, excellent atom economy, and gram-scale synthesis. The impact of nanoparticle size on the effectiveness of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using sulfurized manganese nanoparticles (MnS@PAA) stabilized with polyacrylic acid (PAA) as a binder was thoroughly investigated. MnS@PAA nanoparticles of varying sizes were synthesized by altering the ratio of ethylene glycol (EG) to diethylene glycol (DEG) during the synthesis process. Co-pyrolysis behaviors, kinetics, and thermodynamic parameters of petrochemical sludge (PS), lignite (HL), and pine wood (PW) were investigated via fixed-bed reactor experiments and thermogravimetric analysis. Fixed-bed experiments showed H and CO were main gases from PS, HL, and blends, CO from PW and PS, and CO and CH from PS and HL. Thermal analysis indicated that ternary blends' de-volatilization had two parts dominated by PW and HL, respectively.

Bound states in the continuum (BIC) refers to waves that are entirely confined within the continuous spectrum of radiation waves without interacting with them. In our study, we attempted to construct a waveguide satisfying BIC conditions by forming a polymer layer on a 4H-SiC substrate, positioned on an insulator. By fine-tuning the waveguide parameters, we minimized losses to the substrate continuum and determined that the lowest loss meeting BIC conditions occurs when the HSQ width is 1.
